Residents Support Eagle Ranch
Robin Tanis, Susan Rogers, Faith Hayes, Julie Blackwell, Rhonda Moore
Did you know that just two and a half miles down the road is one of the largest, most established residential children’s programs in the Southeast? Eagle Ranch provides a Christ-centered home, education, and counseling for nearly 70 boys and girls. Children are given the structure, stability, and time needed to work through a crisis situation and return to their families. The gorgeous 315-acre campus has a neighborhood feel in a rural setting bursting with flowering plants, lush fields, two lakes, forested trails, and wildlife. Tours are organized for Sterling on the Lake residents to be picked up right at SOTL Clubhouse in the Eagle Ranch tour bus. Tours are approximately one and a half to two hours. You’ll have an opportunity to see this program up close and also have an opportunity to learn more about how you can get involved (although there is no pressure to do so!). Come and see. Come and learn. You’ll be encouraged and inspired by the work happening right here in your own backyard. Stay tuned for more information about future tours for SOTL residents.
There are opportunities to serve at Eagle Ranch by providing meals for children and houseparents. Imagine cooking for up to 12 people every single day! This is what the houseparents at Eagle Ranch do, day in and day out. Right now, SOTL has three teams who have adopted a home and cook dinner for them one night a month ... this is such a blessing! Residents are encouraged to join one of the groups or to gather some friends and bless the Eagle Ranch houseparents with meals, too.
There are also other ways to support Eagle Ranch, including financial donations or participating in their annual Dewitt Weaver Eagle Ranch Golf Classic or their Run the Ranch 5K, Fun Run, and nature walk. This year’s Run the Ranch was recently held on Saturday, June 4th. Several Sterling residents participated this year, including Tammy Bjugson, Polly King, Libby McAmish, Joy Rudder, and Kay Skinner. To learn more about next year’s events, to volunteer, or donate, you can go to eagleranch.org/getinvolved.
If you have any specific questions about Eagle Ranch tours or providing meals, please contact Tammy Bjugson at 404-966-7564 or by email at tbjugson@gmail.com.
