Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) is dedicated to enhancing the health of our community, driving our commitment to offer expanded and improved healthcare resources throughout the region. Termed as "Growing the Greater Good," NGHS views its expansion projects as more than mere structures of bricks and mortar; they represent a focus on the individuals who will occupy these spaces—our patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and the broader community.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton stands as an exemplary model of healthcare excellence. To meet the evolving needs of the growing community, NGMC Braselton is undergoing expansion. Currently in progress on the Braselton campus:

  • 235,000 square feet of new clinical space, incorporating two additional patient care floors and 150 licensed acute care beds, increasing the total bed count to 284.
  • Installation of four new operating rooms to broaden the scope of available surgeries and procedures, including the creation of an endovascular operating room for vascular and cardiac catheterization cases. Areas for pre- and post-surgery care will also see expansion.
  • Implementation of a new helipad to ensure faster, more efficient access to life-saving heart, stroke, and surgical care
  • Addition of 200+ new parking spaces for the convenience of patients and visitors
  • Expansion of pharmacy, laboratory, kitchen, and other essential spaces.
  • Anticipated completion is set for the summer of 2025.

The hospital's Emergency Department is also undergoing growth, with the number of treatment rooms doubling from 23 to 46, aimed at providing swift and efficient care to more individuals. The Emergency Department expansion is expected to be completed in 2026.

The NGMC Braselton campus functions as a healthcare hub, housing Medical Plaza B with specialty physician offices, a resource center, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services. Medical Plaza 1 further expands healthcare offerings with an urgent care center, imaging center, endoscopy suite, outpatient lab, therapy services, physician offices, and the Braselton Cancer Center.

The recent addition, the beautiful Braselton Surgery Center, which recently opened, encompasses the entire ground floor of the new Medical Plaza 2. The ambulatory surgery center includes four operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and twenty patient rooms. Two additional 30,000 square feet floors above the surgery center will soon house more physician offices, establishing an extensive network that ensures community access to a wide range of medical services in one convenient location.

NGHS's commitment to the community extends beyond the walls of its hospitals. Operating five hospital campuses across the region—NGMC Braselton, NGMC Gainesville, NGMC Barrow, NGMC Habersham, and NGMC Lumpkin—collectively offering over 850 beds and featuring more than 1,300 medical staff members representing 60 specialties. This expansive network ensures that high-quality healthcare is easily accessible to the residents of Northeast Georgia.

Integral to NGHS's success are its four core values—Respectful Compassion, Responsible Stewardship, Deep Interdependence, and Passion for Excellence—which guide interactions among physicians, staff, volunteers, board members, and patients. These values are evident in the compassionate care provided and the dedication to improving community health across all aspects of their operation.

NGMC Braselton is more than a hospital; it serves as the cornerstone of health and wellness in our community, providing a comprehensive range of medical services with a profound commitment to the community's well-being. They are very grateful for the many local residents who support NGHS as doctors, staff, patients, volunteers, and donors.

“We began planning for the Braselton campus almost 20 years ago, working with community leaders, who shared our vision for what this hospital could become,” said Anthony Williamson, President, of NGMC Braselton. “This expansion is not only a reflection of the growth of the Braselton area but also of our original plan to continue to add comprehensive, much-needed health-related services for the community.”
