Christopher Turner
U.S. Army Paratrooper Veteran
Christopher Turner and his wife Tanya have lived in Sterling on the Lake for 17 years. They have two sons, Gregory and Joseph, and a sweet Chihuahua mix named Roxy. Christopher served in the U.S. Army from 1985-1993. He served in the first Gulf War ('90-91) and was a paratrooper at Ft. Bragg!
Christopher has a great family history of Veterans. His father was a WWII B17 pilot and a Korean War dentist in the MASH unit with the First Cav Division. Several of his uncles and aunts were WWII and beyond veterans! Two of Christopher’s brothers were airborne infantry (the youngest was with the second ranger battalion in Grenada). We are beyond grateful for this family’s acts of service to our country!
Christopher attended Army Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning after college. He knew he could enlist and in six months be an officer. He served in Germany with a Pershing II Missile unit (before retrograding under INF Treaty with the then Soviet Union). Christopher was then assigned to XVIII Abn Corps HQs through Just Cause and Desert Shield/Storm until he left to pursue Chiropractic College. That was a lot to experience during his eight years in the service! One of his favorite memories was skiing in the Alps with his Army buddies!
Here at Stroll Sterling magazine, we are so grateful for Christopher and all our neighborhood veterans who sacrificed so much to serve our country. May it never be a thing we take for granted. If you are able to honor a veteran this month, please do so! They often do not get the recognition they deserve.
