Meet Linda Cahill: A Sterling on the Lake Neighbor with a Heart for Service

Linda Cahill was named Eagle Ranch Volunteer of the Year at this year's Eagle Ranches DeWitt Golf Tournament

Linda Cahill, a resident of The Springs in Sterling on the Lake for the past two years, has not only made a significant impact on her community but was also recognized for her incredible efforts by being named Volunteer of the Year at Eagle Ranch. Her dedication to service has been unwavering since she moved to the neighborhood, and this prestigious award highlights her outstanding commitment to giving back.

A Passionate Volunteer at Eagle Ranch Linda has spent the last two years volunteering at Eagle Ranch, stepping in to help wherever she's needed. From assisting with the DeWitt Weaver Golf Classic at The Legends—an event she describes as a blast—to making food pickups from Papa Jack’s for Beth Wilson at The Wing Center, her contributions are wide-ranging. She’s also stored away seasonal decorations, run errands for event preparations, filled goodie bags for volunteers, helped with registration for Run the Ranch, prayed over the grounds before major events, and even cleaned horse stalls. Linda sums up her role with modesty, saying, “Whatever I can do to help lighten someone’s load, I hope they’ll always call on me.”

Linda's recognition as Eagle Ranch's Volunteer of the Year is a testament to her hands-on approach and her genuine passion for helping others. "It's such an honor, but I truly just love being there. It’s an awesome organization, and I’m thankful to live so close to the Ranch!"

The Joy of Giving Back Volunteering brings Linda a deep sense of fulfillment. “It’s a cliché, but giving back to our community is just amazing! What better way to lend a hand to future generations than investing in them today?” she says. Working with the energetic, fun-loving kids at Eagle Ranch is something Linda truly cherishes. Beyond that, volunteering has helped her feel more connected to her new neighborhood. “It allows me to feel like a part of the community as a newbie,” she shares, “and it’s a great way to meet new friends.”

Linda encourages others to experience the joy of volunteering, whether at Eagle Ranch or elsewhere. “You won’t regret your time invested, for sure!”
Getting Involved at Eagle Ranch If you’re inspired by Linda’s story and want to make a difference at Eagle Ranch, reaching out to Meghan Washington, the Outreach Coordinator, at mwashington@eagleranch.org is the best way to get started. There are always opportunities to help, and every contribution is appreciated.  In fact, Linda was introduced to Eagle Ranch through a tour that Sterling neighbor, Tammy Bjugson, organized.  "You never know what opportunities are out there and what new neighbors you’ll meet until you get involved and get to talking!” she jokes.

Family Connections and Volunteering While Linda’s 4 children and their families live in the Atlanta and Roswell area, she treasures every moment spent with them. Although they haven’t volunteered at Eagle Ranch yet, they certainly hear all about it and I'm convinced they’ll  be right there with me at some point because … who wouldn’t want to do that!

A Legacy of Giving Linda’s late husband often shared a phrase that has become one of her guiding principles: “You’re either a taker or a giver... I want to be known as the latter.” It’s a philosophy she lives by, especially in her volunteer work. “When we put our eyes on others, our problems don’t seem so big anymore,” she reflects. “It’s not always the easiest thing to do, but we can make that choice.”

With her dedication to serving others and her belief in the power of kindness, Linda Cahill is an inspiring example of what it means to give back to the community. Her recognition as Volunteer of the Year at Eagle Ranch is well-deserved, and her impact continues to be felt by everyone she helps.

Linda Cahill’s spirit of generosity and her commitment to making a difference have made her an invaluable part of both Eagle Ranch and the Sterling on the Lake community. Whether she’s volunteering or simply sharing her warm smile, Linda is a shining example of how one person can make a lasting impact.
