For homeowners, weekend DIYers and seasoned project pros alike, having a trusted local hardware store can make all the difference. At S&S Ace Hardware in Braselton, customers find more than shelves stocked with tools and supplies. They find a knowledgeable team ready to help solve problems, offer advice and make even an unexpected home repair feel a little more manageable.

Located at 3740 Village Way, S&S Ace Hardware has been serving the area for 18 years and is owned by Bolster Hardware. The store offers an extensive selection of products and services, including paint, grills, lawn mowers, garden supplies, electrical and plumbing products, key cutting and programming, window rescreening and much more.

Leading the Braselton team is General Manager Kira Hawley, whose own career with Ace Hardware is a testament to the opportunities and welcoming environment she found there.

Kira began working for Ace 16 years ago as a cashier. From there, she gained experience throughout the store, working in the paint department, helping with office responsibilities and eventually becoming Operations Manager before stepping into her current role as General Manager.

“I loved the welcoming feel of the hardware store,” she says.

Today, Kira oversees a team of approximately 30 employees whose varied backgrounds and experiences are among the store’s greatest strengths. When a customer arrives with a question, unusual repair or project challenge, there is a good chance someone on the team has encountered something similar.

“We really try to help and go above and beyond,” Kira explains. “My team comes from all sorts of backgrounds and work experience. Together we can usually figure most anything out.”

That personal service is also what Kira finds most rewarding about her work. She enjoys being a trusted resource for the community and especially appreciates opportunities to meet local families during the store’s grilling events and other activities.

S&S Ace Hardware’s connection to Braselton extends well beyond the store. The business supports local fundraisers, frequently donates products to help organizations raise money and has provided sponsorship support for organizations and events including Jackson County High School football, Road Atlanta and Papa Jack’s.

Kira and her family are also firmly rooted in the area. Originally from Michigan, she moved to Georgia 29 years ago and has called the Braselton/Hoschton area home for the past 12 years. Her husband, Dustin, works for Uline Warehouse in Braselton, and their 8-year-old daughter, Olivia, attends school locally. The family enjoys downtown Braselton events, local restaurants and businesses, and participation in a local Girl Scout troop.

Kira encourages Sterling residents to stop in, meet the team, and even share suggestions about products they would like the store to carry.

“We are always trying to find new and different things to stock,” she says.

More than anything, Kira wants customers to know that the familiar Ace Hardware commitment to helpful service is genuine at S&S Ace Hardware.

“Stop in, say hey, and you will hear us say, ‘What can we help you with today?’” she says. “And we really do mean it.”
