From Kill Bill to Candy Bowls
The Killer Adventures of the Costello & Yu Families

Two families. One bond. Zero fear of chaos.
This month, we feature two families who bring fun, energy, and just the right amount of chaos wherever they go. Longtime supporters of Stroll Edinburgh, the Costellos and Yus were a natural choice for our Halloween cover—spirited, bold, and ready for adventure. Step inside their story and see why this bond is one worth celebrating.
Lindsey and Chris Costello have been married for 15 years and have called Edinburgh home for the past six years. They are the proud parents of 12-year-old Scarlett and 10-year-old Christopher. They spend weekends at the softball field watching Scarlett and the Suwanee Sirens compete in travel ball tournaments, and endless hours watching Christopher add to his karate belt collection and build skills on the basketball court. The Costellos love their life in Edinburgh, and are genuinely one of the best parts of our community.
Jean and George Yu celebrate their 18th anniversary in October and have lived in Edinburgh since December 2023. George and Jean are the proud owners of Noona Fine Meat & Seafood on the square in Duluth. George is a seasoned chef with a passion for Korean cuisine, having carved out a unique niche in Atlanta's vibrant culinary scene. With a background in electrical engineering and a culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu, George brings a distinctive perspective to his craft.
George and Jean are the proud parents of three amazing kids: sixteen-year-old Caleb, thirteen-year-old Joshua, and ten-year-old Lucas. They love supporting their kids in their sporting, music, and scouting endeavors, as well as their educational pursuits. Being a part of the Edinburgh Marlins in the summer and engaging with the boys’ schools throughout the school year brings them joy and purpose as they make family memories and support their community.
A Killer Photoshoot
What happens when two families decide to dress up like Tarantino characters? A lot of laughter, a little chaos, and enough “karate stances” to fill a blooper reel. Between kids showing off moves they learned on YouTube and adults trying to look tough while fighting back giggles, our Kill Bill–themed photo shoot for this month’s cover was less “deadly assassins” and more “neighbors just having a blast.”
It was the perfect reminder of what makes this neighborhood special: when you find friends who are willing to be ridiculous with you, you’ve struck gold.
How We Met
Like many great neighbor stories, it all started with the kids. Christopher and Lucas hit it off one afternoon, and before we knew it, Christopher was lobbying hard for the friendship to continue. He ran straight up to Lucas’s dad, George, and insisted that he needed his mom’s number so “they could hang out again.”
Turns out, the kids were right, and that simple moment sparked a connection between our families that has only grown.
Two Families, One Friendship
From then on, it wasn’t just about the kids. Between Scarlett and Christopher on our side, and Lucas, Caleb, and Joshua on theirs, there’s never a shortage of action, games, or neighborhood adventures. But while the kids bonded over silliness, the adults discovered how easy it was to do the same.
Over time, our hangouts have taken on their own rhythm and a few running jokes. (If you’ve ever heard us mention Interstellar, just know it’s become a whole thing.) More often than not, you’ll find us at George and Jean’s house, where poker chips hit the table, the kids are darting in and out, and there’s always a mix of familiar and new faces adding to the fun.
George does what he does best, creating food that turns an ordinary evening into a top-shelf event. We usually show up with a good bottle of wine or a new whiskey to try, and sometimes a dessert to balance it all out. But honestly, the real magic isn’t in who cooks, pours, or deals the cards. It’s that every gathering feels effortless, full of laughter, conversation, and that sense of being at home with each other.
What’s Next: A Halloween Block Party
Since we’ve already proven we can pull off yellow jumpsuits and samurai swords (sort of), we thought we’d bring things back to what we really do best: just being neighbors. This Halloween, we’ll be gathering in the cul-de-sac at the end of Glastonbury Lane, right by George and Jean’s house. They have a way of making everyone feel welcome, and it’s the perfect spot for the neighborhood to come together.
This isn’t a formal event, so there aren’t schedules or sign-up sheets. We’ll be there hanging out, and we’d love for you to swing by, say hi, and stay awhile. Bring a costume if you’re in the spirit, or just come as you are. The kids will have candy and chaos, the adults will have good company, and together we’ll continue to build the kind of community that makes this neighborhood feel like home.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not about who wore the best costume or who brought what. It’s about showing up, sharing a laugh, and turning an ordinary cul-de-sac into something pretty extraordinary.
We hope to see you there!
