At just 9 years old, Tiare Yu is making waves—both in the pool and on the golf course. A 4th grader and a proud resident of Edinburgh for the past five years, Tiare has already built an impressive athletic resume. From competing in GSGA, USKG, and HJGT golf tournaments to advancing to the Peach State Championship with her Swim Atlanta team, her dedication and talent are undeniable.
We spoke with Tiare's mom, Selna, to learn more about her. We know you'll be just as impressed as we are!
A Passion for Golf and Swimming
Tiare’s love for sports began when she moved to Brendlynn Drive in 2020. She started playing golf with her dad at Bear's Best during the pandemic, turning casual fun into serious competition. Now, she participates in prestigious events like PGA Junior, USKG, and GSGA tournaments, inspired by golf icons such as Nelly Korda, Rose Zhang, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy.
Her swimming journey started even earlier, at just 4 years old, with a love for the beach and water. As she grew stronger, she became more competitive, joining Swimming Atlanta and the Edinburgh Marlins. Her recent qualification for the Peach State Championship reflects her impressive progress.
Memorable Moments and Achievements
Among her many accomplishments, Tiare is especially proud of placing in the top 3 at the USKG World Championship, where she competed alongside talented young golfers from around the globe. It was a defining moment that showcased her skill and determination.
In swimming, qualifying for the Peach State Championship was another milestone, marking her growth as a competitive athlete.
Balancing Sports and School
Despite her busy schedule, Tiare balances schoolwork and sports through strong time management skills. She’s learned to be disciplined, making every moment count.
