Lio Garcia - Leading the Way On and Off the Baseball Field

The 2024 Perfect Game 14U Select Baseball Festival Team - Helping the South West Florida Children and Their Families Fighting Cancer at Golisano Children's Hospital.

Last March, we highlighted Lio Garcia as our “Amazing Athlete.” Lio is the #3 Short Stop for the class of 2028. He has a heart as big as his talent and is learning first-hand that the greatest joy in life comes from lifting others up. His mom, Amanda, shares her pride for her incredibly talented and big-hearted kid as he works to make an impact off the baseball field.

Over the summer months of 2024, Lio traveled to Ft. Meyers, Florida, to play with 48 other East and West Squad teammates for the 14u Perfect Game Select Fest. This experience allowed Lio to play with teammates from around the USA and other countries, such as Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela, at the home of the Boston Red Sox, Jet Blue Ballpark. The event aired on television via Perfect Game on September 1, 2025.

Another amazing element of this trip was that Lio, along with his amazing community of teammates, was invited to visit the Hematology and Oncology Center at Golisano Children's Hospital to meet the children who cannot easily grab a glove and ball and run outside without a care in the world.

This visit allowed the athletes and children to become one team. For just one day, one child's darkness became another child's opportunity to serve in goodness and fellowship. For that, I couldn't be more proud to have Lio stand in as one of the ambassadors raising funds to support these beautiful children. Lio helped raise $30,465 by soliciting donations for the Golisano Children's Hospital.

Lio will continue his baseball journey this spring for the Buford Wolves Varsity Baseball Team. We are so proud of Lio and his dedication to this sport, which defines so much about him. We are even more excited about the impact he will make on organizations such as Golsiano Children’s Hospital by using his baseball platform to advocate for children who do not have the same opportunities as Lio due to life-changing health circumstances. Watching him grow on and off the field is a privilege; we cannot wait to see where this path takes him!
