As backpacks come out of the closet and new routines begin, families across Edinburgh are preparing for another exciting school year. For the Erisman family, this fall brings two big milestones with one child starting first grade and another heading off to Pre K. It's the perfect season to introduce a family that has quickly embraced everything our neighborhood has to offer and is making wonderful memories along the way.

Some families just seem to embrace every season of life with enthusiasm, and that's exactly the impression the Erisman family has made since moving to Edinburgh last summer. Whether they're cheering from the baseball field, exploring a new playground, hosting family gatherings, or spending an afternoon at the neighborhood pool, they have quickly become part of the fabric of our community.

The family moved into Edinburgh at the end of July 2025 after spending the previous 12 years in Suwanee. They had long hoped to find their forever home in the North Gwinnett area and knew they wanted to raise their children here. Since the day they arrived, they have felt welcomed by neighbors and have enjoyed building friendships throughout the community.

Danielle and Josh are both pharmacists who share not only a profession but also a love story that began through mutual friends from work. Weekend dinners and gatherings with coworkers eventually led to their first date, and the rest, as they say, is history. Danielle likes to joke that Josh is the only good thing that came out of working at her previous employer!

Josh earned his pharmacy degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Suwanee after completing his undergraduate studies at Georgia College and State University. He later earned his MBA from Kennesaw State University. Today, he serves as Pharmacy Operations Manager at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Scottish Rite campus. Danielle completed her undergraduate studies at Auburn University before earning her pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia. She now works part-time as a pharmacist for Kaiser Permanente.

Their two children keep life full of energy and laughter. Their six-year-old son, Landon, will begin first grade at Riverside Elementary this fall. He has a fascination with all things transportation. Cars, trucks, buses, construction equipment, airplanes, trains, if it moves, he's interested! He's always quick to point out every vehicle they pass and happily shares his opinions on each make and model. His dream truck seems to change almost daily.

Their four-year-old daughter, Mackenzie, will begin Pre-K at Level Creek United Methodist Church Preschool this fall. Her parents describe her as equally sassy and sweet, with a growing independent streak that keeps everyone on their toes. One thing that never changes is the special bond between siblings. They genuinely enjoy cheering each other on and celebrating each other's accomplishments.

An active family, they spend as much time outdoors as possible. Bike rides, backyard games, helping with yard work using kid-sized tools, and practicing baseball are all regular activities. Convincing the kids to come inside at the end of the day is often the biggest challenge.

Baseball is a big part of family life. Landon has played with North Gwinnett Baseball at George Pierce Park for six seasons and recently completed his first All-Star season. One of the highlights has been having Josh serve as his coach. As someone who grew up playing baseball, Josh enjoys sharing his love of the game while teaching young players both skills and sportsmanship. Watching his son grow more confident with each season has been especially rewarding.

This fall will bring a new adventure for Mackenzie as she begins gymnastics. After years of happily cheering for her brother from the sidelines, usually while enjoying the ballpark snacks, she's excited to have an activity of her own. Her parents wouldn't be surprised if softball eventually finds its way into the mix as well.

The family enjoys the rhythm of the school year and all the activities that fill their calendar. They're especially grateful for the support of both grandmothers, who help care for the children while Danielle and Josh are at work. The arrangement gives everyone more quality time together and has become a true blessing for the family.

At home, everyone has their own hobbies. Josh enjoys experimenting with recipes on the smoker and Blackstone grill, especially during football season. He's also a fan of craft breweries, making a great Old Fashioned, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Danielle loves baking, cooking, and crafting. Her Silhouette machine is always busy creating personalized shirts, water bottles, and school items for the kids. Both children love helping in the kitchen and proudly volunteer as official taste testers whenever something new is being made.

When they're not at home, you'll often find the family exploring local favorites like Cumming City Center, visiting the Suwanee library, or searching for a new playground. They also enjoy PlayTown Suwanee and Settles Bridge Park. This summer, they're especially excited to take the kids to their first concert when they see Andy Grammer perform in Sugar Hill, where the children already know nearly every song by heart.

Since moving to Edinburgh, the family has enjoyed attending neighborhood events, including the Fall Festival, Christmas Cookie Swap, Bear's Best Christmas Party, and several Stroll gatherings. This summer, however, the neighborhood pool has become their favorite destination. It's been the perfect place to watch the kids build confidence in the water while making new friends. Evening trips to the neighborhood playground have become another favorite family tradition.

Although the kids frequently campaign for a family dog, complete with convincing stories from Landon about his imaginary canine companion, the family remains pet-free for now. His "dog" is actually a beloved stuffed animal, but he's always hopeful that the real thing will arrive one day.

What they appreciate most about Edinburgh is the strong sense of community. Friendly neighbors, family-friendly amenities, and opportunities to gather have made the neighborhood feel like home in a very short time.

And when it comes to Stroll Edinburgh, their favorite part is simple: learning more about their neighbors, discovering local businesses, and staying connected to everything happening in the community. We are thrilled to know that we have played a part in helping the Erisman family to feel right at home in Edinburgh!
