Meet The Thomas Family
Catching up with one of Hollyhock's first families to move into the neighborhood
After both being raised in Orange County, California, Ashlee and Chris Thomas took a risk on Frisco, Texas after a sorority sister sang its praises as a great place to live. A big leap of faith, as the two had always lived within a 20-mile radius of their California roots. Chris had always wanted to live somewhere out of state and in 2017, Ashlee decided to take a chance and make a change. They flew out one weekend and “fell in love”, Ashlee said.
She describes her former neighborhood in California as having, “practically no kids” in it, and she and Chris wanted a “community like we grew up in”, she said. They stumbled onto the neighborhood of Hollyhock and it became, “a place with lots of families, where kids can ride bikes, play in the street, and run in and out of the house”. Frisco also felt a bit like home to the Thomas family, but adding the “southern hospitality and Texasness that Texas brings”, Ashlee said.
Ashlee and Chris have kept busy here, with jobs, and volunteering, along with their children and their hobbies. They have two very active children. Luke, is 12, and will go into 7th grade in the fall. Emilee is 9, and going into 4th grade this year. Luke enjoys golf and running. He hopes to get the chance to run Cross Country for Wilkinson Middle School this year. Emilee has always had a deep passion for dance and dances at All Out Dance Academy in Prosper, Texas.
For work, Chris is the Senior Estimator at PaveCon Public Works in Grand Prairie, while Ashlee works from home as the Director of Operations at Cara Clark Nutrition. Ashlee is also passionate about volunteering and has served her community through local PTA boards for the past 6 years. Currently, she serves as the first PTA President at Minett Elementary.
The family has one furry friend named Violet, a Goldendoodle that you can find Chris and Ashlee walking frequently in the neighborhood.
When the Thomas family isn’t busy doing sports, running PTAs, and working, you can find them traveling to some of their favorite destinations like California to visit family, Hawaii, or the 30A area of Florida.
Their Friday nights are reserved for “family nights” on the couch with a pizza and a movie, as they wind down from their busy weeks. After 6 years of living in Hollyhock as of this past June, Ashlee said, “It has been so fun to see this neighborhood start out with only a handful of families and grow into what it is today”. We agree with you, Ashlee, and we add that Hollyhock is so glad to have had your family here along for the ride.
