Double the Bark, Double the Trouble
Bud and Bo may be tiny, but they’ve got big opinions, serious lizard surveillance skills, and a mission to keep Mom on her toes.

Hi there! We’re Bud and Bo—Yorkie brothers, window lizard scouts, professional snack enthusiasts, and proud full-time residents of Sugar Mill Pond. We may only be three years old, but trust us, we’ve got enough stories to fill a squirrel’s pantry. Since this is our feature, Mom promised to let us do the talking. So buckle up, neighbors—this is life from the bark side.
Let’s start with how we came to rule the roost. Our mom (you may know her as Faith, but we call her “Snack Dispenser in Chief”) wasn’t quite herself after her two longtime Yorkie companions crossed the rainbow bridge. The house was too quiet. The squirrel patrol went unattended. The treat jar gathered dust. But then—ta-da!—enter us: Bud (that’s me, the darker one) and Bo (my fancy-looking brother with the multicolor coat). She only meant to adopt one of us, but how could she say no to this face? Or, okay, these faces?
Our names are extra special. Mom named us after her own parents—Bud and Bo were their nicknames. They’re not here anymore, but now we get to carry on their memory with every tail wag and window smudge we leave behind. (We like to think we’re the gift that keeps on yapping.)
Now, let’s talk hobbies. Our greatest passion? Lizard hunting. We spend hours posted up at the window, eyes locked on the same scaly target every day. We call him Sushi—not because he’s our buddy (he’s not), but because, frankly, we’d love to eat him. Don’t worry, he’s way too fast for us. Still, the daily stakeouts keep our instincts sharp. You know, in case the neighborhood ever needs two tiny guard dogs with zero follow-through.
As for talents, we don’t like to brag... but we’ve pretty much mastered the art of sitting. (If there’s a treat involved.) We also excel in barking at nothing, making people laugh, and just barely escaping the yard to greet unsuspecting joggers. We’re not runaways—we’re just very committed to meeting the neighbors. Community outreach is important.
Yes, we’re spoiled. Rotten, even. Mom says the house is no longer hers—and that’s exactly how we like it. We’ve got beds in every room, more squeaky toys than a toddler, and a standing agreement that if we look cute enough, all barking will be forgiven. Yorkie privilege? Maybe. But have you seen our ears?
At the end of the day, though, we know what really matters: love. Mom says our unconditional love has brought her joy again. But truth be told, she’s given us a pretty amazing life, too. From cuddles on the couch to wild zoomies in the backyard, we’re living our best lives. Together.
So if you hear tiny paws zooming by or catch two furry faces peeking through the window–that’s probably us. Bud and Bo. The barky, quirky, totally lovable heartbeats of our home. Come say hi! Sushi might even be there, too.
That’s our tail (for now)!
