A Home Filled with Love

Fred and Chris Credeur open their hearts and their home, sharing a life built on love, presence, and time together.

When I arrived at Fred and Chris Credeur’s home for their photoshoot, it wasn’t just Fred and Chris there to greet me. Their children and grandchildren filled the house with laughter, movement, and conversation. It immediately felt like a place where people are meant to gather. As we took photos, I watched how naturally everyone gravitated toward one another, how conversations overlapped, and how the youngest members of the family were never far from a loving hand or shared smile.

What stood out most was the way Fred and Chris moved through the room with their family. There was no rushing, no distraction, and no sense of obligation. Their attention was fully present, whether they were listening to their adult children, kneeling down to talk with a grandchild, or laughing together over a shared memory. It was clear that this closeness is not accidental. Fred and Chris are deeply intentional about spending time together and about building strong, lasting relationships with their children and grandchildren. The love in their home felt genuine, steady, and deeply rooted.

That same sense of connection extends far beyond their front door. Originally from Opelousas and Thibodaux, Fred and Chris have built a life centered on family, friendships, and community. They first met through mutual fraternity and sorority friends while attending USL. Chris’s roommate’s boyfriend and his fraternity brothers would often eat at the dining hall located at the bottom of Agnes Edwards dorm. Through those shared connections, Fred and Chris were introduced, started dating, and as they say, the rest is history.

Professionally, both spent many years serving their communities in meaningful ways. Fred was self-employed and owned a sporting goods and promotional products business, along with a retail shopping center in Opelousas. Chris worked for the Department of Social Services and served as assistant manager of the St. Landry Parish office. Today, they enjoy a season of life that allows more time for travel, friendships, and family. Fred stays active through exercise, reading, and part-time real estate work, while Chris enjoys going to the gym and participating in several social groups, including Sugar Mill Pond Book Club, Supper Club, Ladies Luncheon, and pokeno.

Family remains at the heart of everything they do. Their adult children are thriving in careers they are deeply proud of. John lives in New Orleans and works as Director of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement with Entergy. His wife, Jennifer, is a guidance counselor at Louise McGehee School, where their daughter, Laurel (6), is in kindergarten. Adam lives in The Woodlands and is a Senior Finance Manager at GE Healthcare Technologies. His wife, Danielle, is Director of Strategic Communications for the Houston Rodeo. Together, they are raising Izzy (4) and Corgan (2). Fred and Chris love traveling to The Woodlands and New Orleans to spend time with the grands.

At home, meals are simple and comforting. Fred enjoys crock pot roast beef, grilled hamburgers, and spaghetti and meatballs. Chris prefers gumbo, soups, and salads. When dining out, they frequent local favorites like Mandez, Huya, KK’s, Tap Room, El Paso, and several restaurants throughout Lafayette, including Charley G’s.

Travel is another shared joy, with favorite destinations including Destin, 30A, WaterColor, wine country in California, and New Orleans. They also enjoy cheering on the ULL Cajuns, LSU football, and Tulane football. Evenings might include watching The Chosen, The Diplomat, or Landman, or revisiting a classic like Christmas Vacation. Their music tastes span Harry Styles, Andreas Aleman, the Doobie Brothers, and Ed Sheeran.

What Fred and Chris love most about their family is their shared sense of humor, how well everyone gets along, and the joy of celebrating holidays together. Christmas is alternated between New Orleans and The Woodlands, and champagne is always a staple at their gatherings.

They moved to Sugar Mill Pond about three years ago after friends and former neighbors encouraged them to make the move and shared photos of homes they thought would be perfect. They made the move and even brought along their next-door neighbors. What they love most about living here is the people, the relationships, the convenience, and the easy living. It’s the kind of place where family gathers easily, friendships grow naturally, and life feels just a little more connected.
