Sharon Moss’ journey didn’t begin in the showroom of a high-end dealership. It began in a small town in Oklahoma, where she was raised in a tight-knit Lebanese Greek Orthodox family, surrounded by tradition and entrepreneurial spirit. Sharon moved to Lafayette with her late husband, Billy-Jack Moss, in the late 1970s. “I did love it here,” she reflects. “I love the way of life, the people, the way everyone mixes together. It felt like home.”

But life took an unexpected turn when Billy-Jack passed away just ten years into the business. Suddenly, Sharon was not only navigating the loss of her partner, but also the enormous challenge of keeping their dealership afloat in a male-dominated industry—where many wrongly assumed she was just a figurehead.

In the face of adversity, Sharon didn’t back down. When outside forces tried to take over the dealership, assuming she wouldn’t fight back, Sharon tapped into her inner strength—and the support of those who believed in her and her late husband. “They had my back,” she says. And she had the grit to push forward.

What followed was nothing short of remarkable. Sharon took full ownership of the dealership, refined its operations, and grew its reputation. Years later, she made the bold decision to sell the Honda side of the business and focus exclusively on the luxury experience offered by BMW and Mercedes-Benz, ultimately establishing Mercedes-Benz of Lafayette as a trusted and respected name in South Louisiana.

She was recently named a 2024 Pelican Ball honoree, a recognition that genuinely surprised her. “I don’t give to be recognized,” she says. “I give to causes I believe in, because it feels good to give back.”

Whether she’s underwriting a charity gala, supporting youth programs, or championing animal welfare causes, Sharon gives with her whole heart. “I’m all about community—simple as that,” she says.
