A Springtime Escape to Savannah

Neighbor Shelba Guidry shares highlights from her spring getaway to Savannah, filled with blooming flowers, historic sights, and a little St. Patrick’s Day magic.

If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering the moss-draped streets of Savannah, Georgia, our neighbor Shelba just might inspire you to finally book the trip. She recently spent a few days exploring the historic Southern city, and from everything she shared, it was a getaway full of charm, character, and colorful springtime blooms.

Shelba was drawn to Savannah after hearing how beautiful it was—and it didn’t take long for the city to live up to the hype. She made the trip with her friend and fellow River Ranch neighbor, Becky Haydel, and together they toured the city and surrounding islands, visited the famous Bonaventure Cemetery, admired the stunning Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and even managed to fit in a little shopping (because really, what’s a trip without a few finds?).

One of the biggest highlights of the trip was attending the St. Patrick’s Day Parade—a lively tradition that transforms Savannah into a sea of green. Shelba said the energy of the parade was contagious and made the trip even more memorable.

If you’re thinking of visiting, Shelba highly recommends going in the spring. The weather is pleasant—not too hot—and the flowers are absolutely gorgeous. Azaleas and other blooms are everywhere, adding bursts of color to the already picturesque streets.

It sounds like Shelba’s trip had the perfect mix of sightseeing, celebration, and Southern hospitality—and we loved hearing all about it. If Savannah isn’t already on your travel list, it might be time to add it!
