Some evenings at the Maturin home end with a game of Mario on the Nintendo Switch. Brooks is ready to play, little Arden is happy to be near the action, and Tyler and Halee settle into the lively rhythm of life with two young children.

The scene is far removed from the summer of 2009, when a mutual friend introduced Tyler and Halee at Tampico’s in New Iberia. Halee was preparing for her senior year of high school, while Tyler was about to begin college at UL Lafayette.

Neither could have known what would follow. They simply enjoyed being around each other, and before long, they were inseparable.

“We’ve been together ever since,” Halee says.

Their relationship grew alongside them. They completed college, began their careers, and married in 2015. In time, they became parents, and Brooks and Arden brought a new kind of energy to their lives.

“Our children make us laugh every day,” Halee says. “They have such unique personalities.”

Those personalities shape the family’s days in different ways. Brooks enjoys games, neighborhood outings and visits to the Little Library on Shore Drive. Arden is content to tag along, happiest when she is close to the people she loves.

Behind the family’s relaxed evenings are two demanding careers. Halee serves as an Assistant District Attorney for St. Martin Parish in Louisiana’s 16th Judicial District. She works under the supervision of fellow Sugar Mill Pond resident Alister Charrier. Tyler works remotely as a Program Manager for Microsoft. Their days can be demanding, but home offers a place to slow down and reconnect.

When the Maturins moved to Sugar Mill Pond in December 2025, they found a community that felt welcoming from the beginning.

“The neighbors have all been so welcoming and friendly,” Halee says.

The neighborhood has become the setting for a new chapter, one filled with family walks, afternoons at the pool and playground, and the pleasure of watching Brooks and Arden discover the world around them.

Tyler and Halee could not have imagined this life when they first met as teenagers. What began with a simple introduction has grown into a marriage, a family, and a home they are grateful to share.

For the Maturins, growing up together has never meant having every season figured out. It has meant meeting each one side by side and finding something to treasure along the way.
