For Brittany Nuzum, caring for animals isn’t just a job—it’s who she is. A licensed veterinary technician since 2018, Brittany founded Home Pawdicures in 2022 after realizing how many senior and special-needs pets struggled with traditional grooming environments. Based in North Tonawanda, she and her team now serve Niagara, Erie, and surrounding counties, providing compassionate, in-home care to pets of all kinds.

Brittany shares her home with three dogs—Abu, Dundee, and Mr. Wavy Lays Potato Chips—and a three-legged cat named Charlie, who has kidney disease. “They’re my whole heart,” she says. “They remind me every day why I do what I do.”

Home Pawdicures specializes in nail care, Dremel filing, ear cleanings, anal gland expression, grooming, and bathing—all performed in the comfort of the client’s home. Services are tailored to each pet’s health, mobility, and temperament, whether it’s a small rabbit, an anxious German Shepherd, or a senior cat with chronic conditions.

Because Brittany and her team are licensed vet techs and trained groomers, their clients get an added level of reassurance. They can safely administer insulin, vitamin B12, and subcutaneous fluids, as well as assist with medication management and wellness monitoring—something that truly sets them apart from standard grooming services.

“We often recognize health changes that others might miss,” Brittany explains. “Sometimes, that extra bit of knowledge makes all the difference.”

Their holistic approach extends beyond grooming. Brittany and her staff frequently guide clients on nutrition, supplements, and preventive care to improve mobility and comfort—especially for aging pets. Regular schedules (every 4–8 weeks) help keep nails short and joints healthy, reducing strain on paws and posture.

While many of Home Pawdicures’ clients come for health reasons, Brittany’s team adds a playful touch when the moment calls for it—offering pet-safe nail polish in seasonal or team colors like Bills red and blue, festive Christmas shades, or Halloween orange and black. The quick-dry, non-toxic polish adds a splash of personality without compromising safety or comfort.

Whether bathing a senior dog in a walk-in shower or gently clipping the nails of a nervous cat, Brittany and her staff meet pets where they feel safest—at home. The business has earned five-star ratings on Google, Facebook, and Yelp, thanks to word-of-mouth referrals and a reputation built on compassion and professionalism.

Each visit is performed start-to-finish without kennels or waiting rooms. “We come as a team,” Brittany says. “Usually one tech or groomer performs the service while another assists, ensuring every pet feels secure.”

Brittany’s younger sister, Caitlyn, joined the business in 2023, and together they’ve expanded both services and community involvement. Home Pawdicures proudly supports local nonprofits such as Buffalo Underdogs Rescue, Hearts in Bloom, and various animal hospital fundraisers. They frequently donate grooming gift cards and pet-care baskets for raffles and events that benefit local rescues.

Outside of work, Brittany is passionate about crafting, shopping local, and supporting small businesses through her homemade gift baskets and vending events. She’s a familiar face at local coffee shops like Little Black Hearts and Kraft Coffeehouse, where she fuels her creativity with a cup (or three) of coffee.

Whether helping a senior dog regain confidence on newly trimmed nails or painting a pup’s toes in Bills red, Brittany’s mission is clear: to deliver gentle, knowledgeable, in-home care that makes pets and owners alike feel at ease.
