Piper’s Place: Life, Love, and Lots of Treats on Avian Way

A five-year-old Cavapoo named Piper shares her joy-filled days with the family she traveled all the way from Ohio to find.

Hi! My name is Piper, but my family sometimes calls me Pipesy. I’m a five-year-old Cavapoo who traveled all the way from Ohio to find my forever family. From the moment they brought me home, I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be.
I live on Avian Way with my mom, my dad, and my two teenage humans, Megan and Ryan. At home, I take my responsibilities very seriously. My most important job is keeping my dad company while he works from home. I am also an expert napper, which is a skill I have perfected over the years.
Even though I enjoy my quiet time, I always know exactly when the rest of my family is about to come home. I wait patiently at the front window, watching the driveway. The second I see them pull in, my tail starts wagging and my whole body fills with excitement. When they walk through the door, I bounce up and down like a circus dog and grab one of my toys to celebrate.
My favorite game is called Catch, or as my family likes to call it, Catch Piper. I race around the house, hoping someone will chase me. If they catch me, we play tug of war, and then I am ready to start all over again. I could play for hours, although my family seems to tire out much faster than I do.
If you really want to see me light up, just say one magic word: treat. I will sit, shake, high five, roll over, or do whatever it takes. Treats are one of my greatest joys, besides my family of course.
I also love getting out of the house, whether it is for a walk or a car ride. As soon as I see my mom or dad putting on their shoes, I trot to the door and give them my very best puppy dog eyes. When they say, “Come on, Piper,” my heart skips a beat. I leap into the car and sit right up front with my head out the window, letting the wind rush through my fur. It makes me feel so free, like I could chase the breeze forever.
If we are not driving somewhere, I am out on a leisurely walk with my mom. She never forgets to take me for a walk and always lets me stop to sniff every bush, tree, and grassy patch along the way. I think that is what makes her such a great walking partner.
Whether I am playing my favorite games, showing off my best tricks, or watching the world go by from the car window, I am just happy to be doing it all with the people I love most. My family.
