Putter: Loud Bark, Bigger Heart
From foster pup to neighborhood greeter, this beagle mix has a bark, a big heart, and a lot to say.
Hello! My name is Putter, and I live on Ashwood Court with my parents, Patrick and Renee. My name is actually a shortened version of Putter Butter, which is what I was called in my foster home.
You may recognize me around the neighborhood as the small beagle mix with tan and white fur. When I’m out on walks — or watching from the window or front door — I love to say hello to EVERYONE, especially my neighbors Millie and Milan who live next door, or Bailey who lives across the street. Maybe you’ve heard me when you walk by?! I have a pretty loud bark!
My family loved me from the very first moment I walked into the house and peed all over the floor.
Here are some of the people who take great care of me:
My sister Meghan takes me on very fun, long walks. I am the BOSS, deciding which route to take and stopping often to smell EVERYTHING. I can be a little stubborn if I don’t get my way. You may have seen me on one of these walks — stopping suddenly, refusing to take another step, giving Meghan the ultimate death stare, yanking the leash, and saying hello to everyone. Not my fault I wasn’t trained well!
My brother Kevin likes to call me Putty Guy, even though I’m a girl. That’s okay, because he believes I can eat whatever he eats, regardless of what Mom says. This makes me very happy. Mom is still mad about the three pounds of raw ground beef I ate that I just happened to find in a bag while she was unpacking groceries. That was… not a fun day.
My brother Sean spoils me by picking me up, holding me tight, and giving me the best belly rubs ever. I am an expert cuddler and will snuggle with anyone, anytime, anywhere. Ask my favorite neighbor, Miss Terry, how sweet I am!
My cousin Melanie is the reason I found my forever home. My family wasn’t planning to add a dog to the mix, but after Mel shared an adorable puppy picture of me from her friend, who was fostering me, the rest was history.
Now you’ll find dog toys and dog hair everywhere on the stairs, in the hallways, under the tables, even on the chairs! And sometimes there are secret biscuits too.
Life hasn’t been the same for any of us since that first picture, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
