BUILT ON STRENGTH
More than 35 years after G&G Fitness began as a dream and a lot of hard work, the Gronkowski family is carrying its commitment to fitness, family, and customer service into a new generation.
What began more than three decades ago as one family’s venture into the fitness industry has grown into a business serving everyone from homeowners building their first home gym to schools, universities, hotels, country clubs and major commercial facilities.
G&G Fitness Equipment was founded by Gordon “Gordy” Gronkowski and Glenn Gronkowski in 1990. Today, the company offers equipment from many of the fitness industry’s leading brands for both residential and commercial customers, along with facility planning, delivery, professional installation and ongoing service.
And for the Gronkowski family, fitness has never been confined to the workplace.
“Fitness wasn’t just our business. It was our family culture,” Gordy says. “The kids grew up around weight rooms, training, and teamwork.”
All five of Gordy’s sons went on to become professional athletes, and that family culture eventually helped inspire Gronk Fitness, the equipment line developed by the Gronkowski brothers. Today, the next generation is helping lead the family business forward while remaining grounded in the values on which it was built.
We caught up with the G&G team to learn more about the family behind the business, the difference between G&G Fitness and Gronk Fitness, and what residents should know before investing in a fitness space of their own.
What does it mean to you personally to see your sons carrying the business and the Gronkowski name forward?
Gordy: When I started G&G 36 years ago, it was just a dream and hard work. Seeing my sons step in and carry both the business and our family name forward, that means everything.
I’m proud of the company, yes, but I’m even prouder that our values, hard work, loyalty, and family, are what they’ll keep driving forward.
How did raising five athletes influence the business and eventually lead to Gronk Fitness?
Gordy: Fitness wasn’t just our business. It was our family culture. The kids grew up around weight rooms, training, and teamwork.
That environment didn’t guarantee they’d be pro athletes, but it did teach them discipline and the value of showing up. As they grew and built their own paths in sports, it felt natural to connect that same energy back into the business.
Gronk Fitness became not just about equipment, but about living that family lifestyle of strength and commitment.
What does the next generation of G&G look like today?
Today, Dan and Gordie Gronkowski are actively involved in helping lead G&G Fitness into its next chapter. They grew up around the business and understand the values it was built on, especially the importance of putting the customer first.
As the next generation takes on more responsibility, the focus remains much the same as it was when G&G began: helping people find the right fitness solutions to live more active, healthy lives.
At the same time, G&G continues to evolve by expanding its products, expertise, digital resources and complete solutions for residential and commercial customers while maintaining the personal service and long-term relationships on which the company was built.
What is the relationship between G&G Fitness and Gronk Fitness?
Gronk Fitness is the fitness equipment product line developed by the Gronkowski brothers. It reflects the family’s background in athletics and strength training, but it is only one part of the much broader G&G Fitness Equipment business.
G&G carries equipment from many leading brands and helps customers determine which products are best suited to their individual needs.
The company’s role also goes well beyond selling equipment. G&G provides expert guidance, facility planning, delivery, professional installation and ongoing service.
What can a homeowner expect when creating or upgrading a home gym with G&G?
It starts with listening.
Before recommending equipment, the G&G team wants to understand the customer’s goals, how they enjoy exercising, who will use the space, how much room is available and what level of investment makes sense.
From there, G&G’s fitness experts can help narrow down equipment choices and plan the layout. Customers can visit a showroom to try equipment firsthand and compare options before making a decision.
Once equipment is selected, the team can coordinate delivery and professional installation, with G&G’s service department available after the sale.
The goal is to create a fitness space customers will actually use.
What about commercial fitness spaces?
G&G works with schools and universities, multifamily communities, hotels, country clubs, corporate fitness centers, athletic facilities, gyms, healthcare organizations and other businesses.
Their team is involved in each project from concept to completion, helping with facility planning, equipment selection, layout and design, purchasing, delivery, installation and ongoing service.
Rather than simply filling a room with equipment, the goal is to create a fitness environment people actually want to use.
What makes working with G&G different from buying fitness equipment online or from a big-box retailer?
The biggest difference is the focus on finding the right solution rather than simply completing a transaction.
Fitness equipment can be a significant investment, and customers have a lot of choices. G&G’s team takes the time to understand what someone is trying to accomplish, helps compare products and explains the available options.
Customers also have the opportunity to visit a showroom, try equipment themselves and speak with knowledgeable fitness experts before buying, with delivery, installation and service available afterward.
What advice would you give someone who wants to invest in fitness equipment but has no idea where to start?
Start with what you want to accomplish.
You don’t need to know exactly which treadmill, bike, strength machine or other piece of equipment you want before walking into a G&G store.
Think about your goals, the types of exercise you enjoy, how often you realistically plan to train and, perhaps most importantly, what will keep you active.
Then talk to someone who understands fitness equipment.
“A good fitness expert should listen first and recommend second,” the G&G team says.
The goal isn’t to sell someone the most equipment possible. It’s to help them invest in equipment they will actually use.
What are you most proud of after more than 35 years?
While large commercial projects are exciting, the G&G team says some of its greatest pride comes from the relationships that have lasted for years.
That might mean helping a school, business or entire community develop a fitness facility, or simply helping one person walk into a store, find the right equipment and become more active.
When those customers are still using their equipment years later — and continuing to come back to G&G — the family sees those long-term relationships as one of the best measures of what they have built.
What comes next for G&G?
G&G continues to grow both G&G Fitness Equipment and the Gronk Fitness brand, expanding the products, services, resources and expertise available to its customers.
Whether someone is creating a first home gym, upgrading an existing space, outfitting a school or apartment community, or developing an entire commercial fitness facility, the goal is for G&G to remain a resource from the first conversation through installation and ongoing service.
More than 35 years after the business began, the mission remains remarkably consistent: put the customer first and help people live healthier, more active lives.
