Care That Listens, Health That Lasts: Get to Know The Institute for Hormonal Balance

Founded on decades of compassionate care, this evolving practice is redefining what it means to feel healthy at every stage of life.

The Institute for Hormonal Balance, headed by Mandy Cotten, DNP, APRN, FNPC, has a long history rooted in caring for people as whole individuals—not just patients. Founded in 1985 by her dad, Dr. Gary Donovitz, an OB-GYN, the practice has grown to three locations - Arlington, Prosper and Willow Park. Their care has evolved over the decades and is now focused on men’s and women’s health throughout the lifespan. “Our goal is not just to ensure longevity but also to ensure enhanced quality of life and vitality,” says Mandy.

A Path Shaped by Purpose
Mandy’s journey into healthcare was shaped by a genuine desire to help others and a deep respect for the trust patients place in their providers. She earned her undergraduate and nursing degrees from TCU, followed by her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Loyola University New Orleans. Over the years, she has combined education, experience, and empathy to create a practice where patients know they will be heard and empowered to make informed health decisions.

Care That Meets People Where They Are
That philosophy shapes every aspect of care, from hormone optimization and thyroid management to weight loss support, peptide therapy, and wellness services. Every service is approached thoughtfully, with the understanding that no two people—or bodies—are the same.

To this point, The Institute for Hormonal Balance is committed to listening. Their goal is not simply to keep patients alive, but to help them feel so well that they truly enjoy life and feel motivated to live it fully.

Listening First, Treating Thoughtfully
Mandy believes that care works best when patients are involved, informed, and understood. Rather than brushing symptoms aside or settling for “normal,” the team takes time to explore what patients are experiencing and why—then works together to find a path forward that aligns with individual goals.

A Place Patients Feel Known
Patients often describe the practice as welcoming and warm—a place where they feel known and valued. Many longtime clients speak to the consistency of care, the friendliness of the staff, and the sense that everyone is working toward the same goal: helping people feel their best, inside and out.

Growing Through Challenges
Like many small businesses, The Institute for Hormonal Balance has faced its share of challenges. Moving into a new space just before the COVID-19 pandemic required flexibility and resilience, but continuing to care for patients during that time offered a sense of connection and purpose when it was needed most.

Since then, the practice has continued to grow—doubling its office size, expanding its team, and opening a third location in Willow Park in 2025. With each step forward, the focus has remained the same: providing thoughtful, compassionate care in a setting that feels approachable and supportive.

Looking Ahead with Intention
Looking ahead, Mandy is excited about what’s next, including expanding services, welcoming new providers, and working on a book centered on compassionate patient care and the importance of feeling truly heard. After more than a decade of caring for patients as a Nurse Practitioner, her vision is clear: to help people not just live longer, but live better—with vitality, confidence, and support along the way.
