The Childers Family Juggles Sports, Activities, and Togetherness

Annie and Adam Childers, proud parents of five active children, have built a life rooted in family and community.

The Childers household is lively and full of activity, thanks to their five children, each involved in unique pursuits. Jayden (19) plays soccer for the school team. Austin (15) juggles football and basketball. Brooks (10) stays busy with baseball, basketball, and flag football. Ann Hodges (7) enjoys dancing, tumbling and soccer. Last but not least, Georgia (3) follows in her sister’s footsteps with dance and tumble.

Despite their busy schedules, the Childers kids show up for one another, cheering each other on at games and activities—a tradition their parents cherish.

Annie and Adam both attended Central High School, though they moved in different social circles. Their paths crossed years later at the Fountain in Hillcrest, just before Annie left for Georgia State University to pursue a PhD in Math. Their connection endured long-distance challenges, and they’ve been together ever since. Fun fact: both were born across the street from one another in Hillcrest!

Annie is the Interim Associate Dean for the Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Adam serves as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Pulaski County. Both are deeply committed to their careers, making a meaningful impact in their fields.

The Childers love the sense of community in the Heights. Annie grew up in the neighborhood, and Adam not far in Hillcrest. Their kids enjoy the freedom of exploring the neighborhood with friends, and their nearby neighbors—including Annie’s parents—have become an integral part of their lives. Christmas Eve is a special time for the family, marked by their tradition of watching Elf together—a favorite of Annie’s, even if the kids pretend to be over it!

The Childers’ hobbies often revolve around sports, whether cheering for their kids or rooting for their favorite teams, including the Arkansas Razorbacks and Florida State Seminoles. When not at games, Annie enjoys home improvement projects, and Adam loves cycling.

When they can steal a quiet moment, the family enjoys breakfast at Boulevard or a sweet treat from Le Pops. For vacations, they retreat to Adam’s family’s beach house at Alligator Point, a cherished spot with deep family ties.

For newcomers, Annie encourages embracing the unique charm of the Heights. “The Heights is truly one of a kind. Take advantage of all it has to offer!” she says.

Whether they’re running between activities, walking to local restaurants, or enjoying family traditions, the Childers love their Heights community.
