How long have you lived in the neighborhood? What do you like most about living here?
We have lived in this beautiful neighborhood for 5 years now. We rented for the first 2 years, and loved it so much, we actually bought the house 3 years ago. Obviously, the weather is incredible, but it’s more than that. Anytime we are out walking, people always wave hello or stop to chat. It’s a very dog friendly area, so it’s great to let our dogs all say hello, too. We also love the proximity to the beach, restaurants & shops close by.
Are there any DIY projects or personal touches you've added to make the home uniquely yours?
We were drawn to this house originally because of the open, spacious floorplan and large, flat backyard, but decided to do a “few” renovations (which naturally turned into a few more). We contacted LuAnn Fabian with LuAnn Development to oversee and complete the renovations. We ended up redoing the kitchen/family room, including updating the fireplace and adding shiplap to the ceiling. The main bathroom was fully renovated as well. We probably had the best time redoing the powder room downstairs. It started with a fun seafoam green concrete sink, and we went from there. It’s unique and fits perfectly with the coastal vibe of the house.
How would you describe your home's overall style or vibe?
The outside of the home has that Spanish style look with the barrel tile roof. Inside, we are all about the relaxing beach/chill vibe. Light walls with soothing blue and green decorative colors throughout.
Are there any unique architectural features or standout design elements you love?
One absolutely adorable feature everyone gets a kick out of is the little hideaway room under the stairs. It goes back pretty far and is painted for a fairy princess! It has a light inside and is cozy to settle in and read a book with your little one. We named it Jessingham Palace after our dog Jessie.
Tell us about any memorable events or gatherings you've hosted in your home.
Living in this incredible city, we’ve had friends from other places come to stay with us, but the most MEMORABLE was probably the time we hosted a dog get together. We had about 20 dogs and their families, who are all instagram account friends, from all over the country come for a meet up. Picture about 20 labradors running around the backyard! Everyone had a blast!
Are there any future plans for renovations or additions?
It’s very bittersweet for us, but we are selling our home and moving back east to be closer to family. I have no doubt I’ll miss this place daily!
