Meet Bob and Lucy
100 Likes on a Post Meant a New Furry Friend!
Never underestimate the power of social media. One playful tweet led to the addition of a Golden Retriever to Kristen and Hunter Lambert’s household. This happy couple had always wanted a Golden Retriever and were delighted to open their home to a furry friend.
During the pandemic, Hunter picked up video games and Kristen was bored and (somewhat) jokingly tweeted, “If I get 100 likes on this post, Hunter said he will get me a dog.” Hours later, Hunter received a text from one of his friends, “Soooo are y’all getting a dog?!” Hunter soon found out about the tweet and he and Kristen both laughed.
At the same time, Kristen had received a few DMs from breeders about puppy litters available. After doing their research, they chose Creed Goldens out of the Dallas Fort Worth, Texas area, where Kristen is from. That’s where they found Bob, who was born in May 2020. They brought him to their house and his tail has been wagging ever since.
“Bob immediately fell in love with the California weather and walks on the strand,” smiles Kristen. She, Hunter and Bob moved from Brentwood to Manhattan Beach in June of 2020.
A few short years after moving, Kristen and Hunter got married where, of course, Bob was in a tux. Little did they know they would be welcoming another four-legged friend into their family soon.
Meet Lucy
St. Patrick’s Day 2023 brought another delightful surprise. Kristen, hanging out with friends (and Bob) at Culture, noticed a car pulling up with a wagon full of puppies. She couldn’t resist taking a look.
“Bob was obsessed with Lucy immediately,” she smiles. Kristen and Bob simply decided that they needed Lucy. When Hunter got home, he was shocked. Now Lucy is Hunter’s shadow, happily trailing him wherever he goes.
That’s how Lucy, born in January 2023 in Yuma, Arizona, came to be a part of their lives. Adding to their joy, Kristen and Hunter recently welcomed baby Henry. “Our favorite memory has to be the first walk with the whole family—dogs and baby,” they share. “Henry is now six months old, and it was so surreal to finally be able to step out with the whole family in our favorite place that we get to call home.”
A Glimpse Into Their Names and Personalities
Why Bob? Kristen explains, “We’ve always loved dogs with human names, and what’s more classic than Bob?” Known as “Bobby” or “Handsome,” Bob charms everyone he meets with his smile and swagger as he walks. He just exerts happiness. As for Lucy, her names are “Lulu” and “Pretty Girl,” but it’s her love of sunsets that really stands out. Every evening, she scratches on the back door, knowing instinctively when the sun is about to set, and she loves watching it. It’s the most genuine thing ever,” they say.
Both dogs love treats. Kristen adds, “They are always begging for human food. Their favorites being chicken or steak at home. And on walks, Bob always pulls towards Martha’s for bacon!” As for toys, Lucy is more interested in toys than Bob. She really loves anything she can tear up to find the squeaker! The couple jokes, “They both love to chase the ball, but we are still working on the bringing it back part.”
The family of 5 (3 humans + 2 dogs) love all things on Manhattan Beach pier. Kristen jokes, “It’s like a year-long trick or treat for the dogs, always pulling us into different shops and restaurants seeking that treat they may have had one time months ago.” One of their favorite family hangouts is Culture!
These two furry friends go on weekly adventures with @pawsomeadventuresclub where they get to run and play with their friends Koda, Scarlett, Remy, Ollie, Ash, and others! Check it out.
If given the choice, Bob and Lucy would spend every day either at the beach or on a scenic hike, embracing the California outdoors. For Kristen, Hunter, and little Henry, life with Bob and Lucy is an adventure filled with happiness and lots of hair balls, vacuuming, and lots of dog hair. Bob and Lucy have their pet parents wrapped around their paws, living the life of luxury here in the neighborhood and give Henry belly laughs when they play.
If you see them out and about, be sure to say hello! They would love to meet more friendly faces here in the Hill Section.
