Meet Energetic Lila and Laid-back Copper

Copper doesn't look thrilled with having to pose for a picture

Living in a home with four dogs can get quite chaotic, but the Ford family is reminded daily of the joy that owning multiple pets brings to their household. Aside from their Great Danes, Fuel and Draco (who we met last month), the family is grateful for the two smaller breeds of dog that reside in their home. Copper and Lila have complemented the family dynamic with their irresistible quirks and charm, giving Amanda and Kenny Ford a special warmth in their hearts. Lila, a rat terrier, and Copper, a pocket beagle, give the family a variety from their larger dogs. Ever since they adopted the pair, which they did separately, they couldn’t imagine their life without their furry companions.

Raising four kids in need of entertainment calls for one important measure: every household needs a family pet. After much research and looking, Amanda’s husband Kenny Ford landed on the breed of a beagle. According to popular opinions on the stubby yet curious dog breed, beagles make for the perfect addition to families with children. Known for being eager and playful, Kenny decided that a beagle would be a fitting dog to bring home to the family. However, Amanda claims that Copper behaves more as a cat than a dog at times. Ironically, the pup enjoys spending his afternoons sunbathing by an open window, or napping as if it were an “Olympic sport”. Contrary to her lazy brother, Lila tends to bounce off the walls with energy despite her petite size. While her brother is busy tanning in the sun or napping indoors, she enjoys the common game of fetch with her owners. Lila was adopted after Amanda’s daughter, Kaylee Ford, posted that they were in search of a rat terrier for Amanda’s grandma. Shortly after, they were given the opportunity to meet a litter. When Amanda went to pick up the dog, there was only one irresistible puppy left behind to choose from. Even though the two dogs are different energy-wise, Copper and Lila are equally sweet and fulfill an important role in their home.

Amanda and Kenny Ford make it a point to spoil the two rascals with love and affection. Even though they are smaller compared to their Great Dane brothers, the dogs all get along during playtime and are equally cherished as a part of the family. Copper and Lila are fed a special diet, receiving kibble with a nutritious topping or treat nightly. The two dogs often sleep in bed with their owners, each also having an absurd collection of toys. Amanda says that she couldn’t imagine her life without them and that the Ford household is a happier place with the two pups.
