Activities/Hobbies: John plays in a local pool league and enjoys fishing.  La’Nel enjoys creative arts, home décor, and all things beauty.  She is a licensed Cosmetologist and enjoys hair and makeup.  Liam loves playing soccer (he has played since he was 3 years old), building and engineering toys, and transformer models.  We work out and exercise as a family and participate in Martial Arts.  We are on the journey to earning Black Belts together as a family!

 

Park/Play area/Hang out: We love walking in the mountains and learning the rich history and geology of Hot Springs.  Most beautiful sunny days you can find us outdoors.

 

Restaurants:  We cook and grill a lot, mixing traditional Southern comfort dishes with trying new recipes we find online, but when we do eat out as a family, we like J & S Italian Villa, The Avenue, Red Pier, and Don Juan’s Mexican Grill.  If we have a date night, we love popping into Luna Bella.

 

Vacation destination: We are known for our cruising adventures and try to cruise at least once a year.  We have cruised out of California, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida and plan to one day do a Mediterranean Cruise.

 

Sports teams: Being originally from San Antonio, we are big Spurs fans.  For Soccer, Liam insists our favorite team is Inter-Miami, Professional Soccer.

 

TV show/Movie:  We love Jurassic Park and Animal Planet.  You can also catch us watching HGTV.

 

Music: We love Anything by Santana, Soulful and Smooth Instrumentals.  

 

Family dinner: Barbeque

 

Do you have any family traditions?  One of our favorite traditions is for Thanksgiving; we each pick our favorite dish and make that together as a family as opposite to cooking the traditional dishes.  Our Thanksgiving Dinner is always non-traditional and fun!  

 

What college/university did you attend? John is a great example of finding success as a self-taught Entrepreneur.  La’Nel earned her Bachelor of Science from Grambling State University, an HBCU in Louisiana.  She then received her Master of Arts from Webster University.

 

Where are you originally from? John was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.   La’Nel’s family was military and moved all over the United States, however, La’Nel’s roots and family are originally from south Arkansas.

 

How long have you lived in this neighborhood? We have lived in Quail Ridge for about 2 years.

 

What do you like to do to relax?  When John and La’Nel aren’t beautifying a floor or property in Central Arkansas, John likes tinkering with the cars and fishing, while La’Nel finds peace and relaxation in being by the lake.  Liam always enjoys building things.

 

How are you involved in the community?  We are very active in the community.  We coach at the YMCA, have active memberships in the community, including the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, hold Board Member Seats, and mentor the youth with various organizations.  La’Nel is currently pursuing the title of Mrs. Arkansas America 2025 and represents the Hot Springs and surrounding area as Mrs. Greater Hot Springs 2025, where she volunteers with numerous organizations.  Her Platform is Youth Mentorship & Empowerment, so you will often times see her in the community spreading positivity and helping the youth.

 

What activities is your son involved in?   Liam is very active at Lakeside.   Although he is young and attends the Intermediate School, he volunteers every chance he gets to assist the teachers and counselors and helps out with Morning Drop Off at the Primary School.   Liam also plays soccer and basketball for the YMCA Youth League.  

 

What is your favorite part about living in your neighborhood?  Our favorite part of living in Quail Ridge is the community is friendly, welcoming and a great community to raise a family.
