Living Fully, Loving Deeply: Life with the Hollingsworths
From early morning workouts to evenings filled with dance, church, and community gatherings, the Hollingsworths lead a full and active life – yet they never lose sight of what matters most. Deeply rooted in The Preserve, they’ve built a life centered on family, community, and meaningful connection.

Finding Home in The Preserve
Jonathan and Caroline Hollingsworth, along with their daughters Camilla (9) and Eleanor (7), have called The Preserve home since 2012 — and for them, it’s more than just a neighborhood. It’s a place full of memories, friendships, and traditions that continue to shape their family’s story.
From College Sweethearts to Community Pillars
Caroline is originally from Muscle Shoals, and Jonathan grew up in Trussville. They met at the University of Alabama in 2005 through mutual friends. “Roll Tide!” is still shouted proudly in their home – even during their time in Arkansas when Caroline attended law school. The couple tied the knot in July 2010 while Caroline was in her second year of law school. Soon after, they found their way to Birmingham, where they quickly fell in love with the charm and community of The Preserve.
Today, Caroline is a partner at Heninger Garrison Davis, LLC, specializing in personal injury, class actions, and mass tort litigation. Jonathan puts his business management degree to work at Regions Bank as Vice President of Strategy and Execution. Outside of their busy careers, their family life is vibrant and full – anchored by two growing girls and two lively dogs.
A Family on the Move
Camilla, heading into 4th grade at Gwin Elementary, is a seasoned competitive dancer with The Pointe Dance Arts, now entering her third year on the team. Eleanor, excited to start 2nd grade, is proudly joining the dance team for her first season. Between dance, Girl Scouts, and church activities, the girls are always on the move, but they also find plenty of joy in the simple things: riding scooters around the pond, playing with neighborhood friends, or performing dance shows in the living room.
The family’s furry companions, Rosie and Teddy, are never far from the action. Rosie, their 6-year-old Goldendoodle, is sweet, loyal, and just a little vocal (the neighbors probably know her bark well!). Teddy, their 2-year-old Aussiedoodle, is the resident cuddle bug with a quirky sock obsession that keeps everyone on their toes.
Cherished Traditions
The Hollingsworths hold holiday traditions close to their hearts, especially Christmas in The Preserve. “It was one of the big reasons we chose to live here,” Caroline shares. Each year, the family enjoys a Christmas light scavenger hunt with the girls. Caroline’s sister and her family fly in from California just before Christmas, kicking off the holiday with a festive Christmas Eve dinner followed by a walk through the neighborhood to admire the lights. Christmas morning is spent with breakfast in pajamas and the joy of watching all four girls – Caroline’s two and her sister’s two – open presents together.
Halloween is another favorite tradition. “We have friends who come over every year,” Caroline says. “We walk to Founders Park while the kids trick-or-treat, then come back for pizza and soup; it’s become a tradition we all look forward to.”
Weekends of Balance and Community
Weekends, when not filled with dance competitions, are a blend of activity and fun. As Caroline puts it, “On Saturdays, we start the day with a workout at ISI and then treat the girls to doughnuts from Hero’s. It’s all about balance!” The family enjoys exploring the Farmer’s Market at Pepper Place and often dines at neighborhood favorites like Vecchia (a pizza hit with the girls), while date nights are reserved for cozy dinners at Chez Fonfon or Bottega.
Faith and Service
Faith and serving their church community are important parts of the Hollingsworths’ lives. Both Jonathan and Caroline have helped lead small group classes at Hunter Street Baptist Church and remain active members of the congregation.
Caroline recently participated in Leadership Hoover, an experience she found both meaningful and inspiring. “I was honored to be part of the recent Leadership Hoover class,” she shares. As part of the program, her group developed a nonprofit initiative called Hoover2gether, “a hub for mental health resources aimed at supporting and strengthening our community.”
The Heart of The Preserve
At the core of the Hollingsworths’ love for The Preserve is the people who live around them. “Some of our favorite memories come from simply connecting with our neighbors. We live on a busy street where there are always kids outside playing, which creates such a fun, welcoming atmosphere.”
“Some evenings, we’ll have impromptu ‘alley parties’ where everyone brings food and sets up tables. We’ve even had nights where we order pizza and set up an outdoor movie for the kids to enjoy.”
In an age of screen time and busy schedules, it’s this kind of spontaneous community connection that the Hollingsworths value most. “It’s so refreshing that our girls genuinely want to unplug and spend time outside with friends,” Caroline says. “It’s one of the many things we love about living here.”
For the Hollingsworths, The Preserve is more than an address—it’s the heart of their family’s story, filled with love, laughter, and community every step of the way.
