Mahjong Anyone?

Left to right: Artie Miller, Nancy Krzysiak, Jane Sinsheimer, Karen Carlton

Mahjong originated in China and has gained popularity in the United States. It is a fun game using tiles of various symbols and characters.  Usually, four players try to put a combination of tiles together in sets or runs.  Scoring is based on the specific tales and combinations.

The ladies at The Resort have enjoyed getting together weekly for mahjong for years. Marianne Wiggins organized them a little over seventeen years ago, when they started playing in their homes until the group grew too large. They now play at the clubhouse every Wednesday afternoon for about two hours.

Many of the ladies, like Donna McCown, Barbara Richardson, and Jane Sinsheimer, enjoy the social interaction and each other’s company. Others, like Cyndy Phelan, Karen England, Artie Miller, and Kristi Leath, like the logical thinking and mental stimulation the game offers. Nancy Krzysiak, Karen Carlton, Kitty Webster, and Judy Stahlnecker like to catch up with neighbors and meet new people.

So, if you would like to join the ladies of mahjong or learn how to play, they invite you to the clubhouse on Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. You will enjoy the camaraderie and challenge your brain at the same time.
