Spreading Joy, One Book at a Time | The Hill Family's Little Library

Little Libraries began in 2009 when a gentleman in Wisconsin honored his mother with a little neighborhood library because she loved books.  The idea soon spread to almost every community in the United States.

Amber Hill, a teacher and resident of The Resort, has always had an affinity for books. When she learned about Sons of Thunder Schoolhouse Little Free Library, she fell in love with the idea of sharing her love of books with her neighbors. Amber’s husband, JD, gave her the little library as a gift, and she painted it. They set it up in April of 2024.

Amber says that people have been using the little library and hopes more will discover it. The objective is to take a book and leave a book. The books are for all ages and kinds of reading. Currently, there are adult fiction books, elementary chapter books, picture books, and even holiday books. Amber’s sons Noah, Emmett, and Graham enjoy checking it out daily to see if there are new books or if they need to add some books.

While Amber’s family has enjoyed the little library, they hope it will create a love of reading for all in our community. One of the benefits of having the little library is that they have met more neighbors. So, if you are out and about in The Resort, drive down Bent Green and check out the Hill Family Little Library. You’ll be glad you did.
