Where is your business located and when did you start the business?
We opened Stand Strong in Lincoln and surrounding rural areas in October 2024.
Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
Tracy and Kelly Ross both have college degrees. Kelly came from Kansas City and had a 25-year career in the financial arena. Tracy is a home-grown Nebraskan with a master’s in health. We both wanted change and challenge, so we researched several business ideas and were excited about starting a fencing company with a National Brand via Horsepower Brands that is also located in Omaha.
Tell us about the history of your business.
Stand Strong Fencing started out as a small local fencing company in Nashville, TN and was brought on as a brand by Horsepower Brands in 2023. There are now 50 and counting Stand Strong Fencing locations across the United States.
What is unique about your business and sets you apart from the rest?
Our business is women-owned which is unique in this male-dominated industry. Stand Strong is a franchise therefore we have support and knowledge to be industry aware, accountable and professional.
Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer Ridge residents?
We have found that owning a business has been very rewarding by seeing our efforts become something we can be proud of. Sometimes taking the risk is what life is about.

What else should we know about you, your family, your business or your staff?
Tracy and Kelly Ross are married with six kids (three still under 18 and living at home). They welcomed their 1st grandchild in August 2025 and are excited to open the new chapter of being grandparents! Their oldest son is a Navy Submariner in Hawaii. When they are not building fences, they are active with their kids’ activities such as Kart racing, sports and visiting the out-of-state children.
