The Spurlins: Faith, Family, and Community
Our family is a fun blend of local ties, love of family, and community spirit. With our roots planted deep in faith and family, each member contributes their unique personality and interests to create a lively and loving household.
Mark grew up in Montgomery. He earned a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture with a focus on urban planning from Mississippi State University. Then, his love for construction led him to Auburn University, where he obtained a master’s degree in building construction.
I’m from Mathews, just a short distance from Pike Road. I completed my bachelor's degree in interior design at The University of Alabama. Together, we proudly join the ranks of SEC fans who cheer for their teams every Saturday (even during the rough seasons!). Ten years ago, Mark and I met on a blind date and immediately realized we had found something really special in each other. We have been happily hitched for nine years!
We both run our own businesses, Mark Spurlin Construction Co. and Jessica Spurlin Interiors. We specialize in residential design and construction, with a particular fondness for renovation and historic preservation. Mark and I share a commitment to transforming homes into beautiful spaces and improving the quality of life for our clients in the communities we serve. We are also actively involved in Taylor Road Baptist Church, where we serve in various ministries.
Mark and I are the proud parents of three amazing girls who add flavor and delight to our lives! Our oldest, Lottie, is a spirited seven-year-old in the first grade at Pike Road School. She has a passion for horseback riding, ballet, and art. Lottie is very creative and loves to play with her favorite doll, Genevieve. Lucy, our middle child, just turned five and is in K4 at Saint James Preschool. She is always up for a good time and loves to entertain us with her singing, ballet recitals, and fashion shows. Her laughter is infectious! Our youngest, Millie, is a spunky one-year-old who also attends Saint James Preschool. She loves exploring her surroundings and doing anything her big sisters are doing. She is the sweetest caboose and adds lots of joy to our chaotic and fun home!
Completing the family are our two beloved pets. Pumpkin, a friendly yellow cat who loves life on the porch, was adopted by Lottie. Dolly, a French Brittany, was a special gift from Santa for Lucy. This energetic pup loves to run and play, adding even more fun to our family’s adventures, and you’ve likely seen her running wild on the neighborhood Facebook page!
Though we stay busy with our work, church, and community activities, we truly enjoy our time at The Waters! We have the best neighbors and truly value the friendships we have in our special community!
