Key Retirement Solutions

Brad Raschke, Executive Vice President at Key Retirement Solutions, knows a thing or two about Medicare coverage after a decade of guiding clients through complex financial decisions, including selecting the appropriate Medicare product to meet their need

Brad Raschke's skill in tailor-fitting an insurance solution had great impact recently, when a client learned he urgently needed a heart transplant. “He went from chest pain to heart transplant in two months. Because he had enrolled in original Medicare and an optional supplement, he didn’t have doctor’s network and preauthorization requirements, which could have delayed his treatment. He was able to find a great cardiologist, pass through procedures on schedule, and obtain his transplant quickly. One day of delay could have cost him his life.”

Medicare options can be complex, but Brad enjoys coaching his clients through this process and helping them choose coverage that fits their personal health and financial situation – whether that is original Medicare and a supplement, or a Medicare Advantage Plan.

There is no cost to meet with Brad and review your options. “I encourage people to meet with me early so when you do need care, you and your family members know how the Medicare products work and can avoid costly penalties.”

Television advertising for Medicare supplements can be misleading, and plan prices can vary greatly despite providing the same federally regulated benefits. Brad helps his clients navigate through the noise and make a personalized selection. “There is no one-size-fits-all solution. We work together to create a personalized plan which takes into account your budget, family situation, medical history, and the insurance of your dependents.”

One of Brad’s other passions is helping his clients avoid outside interest payments by using their own wealth to self-fund major expenses such as cars and braces. He shares this stunning statistic: “The average American family loses 34.5% of their household income to interest payments made to someone else’s bank.”

He can help interested clients employ the Infinite Banking Concept (IBC), a finance strategy utilizing whole life insurance that allows individuals to create a family bank with the purpose of not relying on traditional banks and loans for expenses. “Once the policy has accrued enough equity through premium payments, clients can take a loan from that equity just as they would take a loan from a bank, but without the headache of credit checks and interest payments. Instead, clients set their own flexible loan repayment schedule to repay their family bank.”

“One of the great benefits of IBC is that the insurance policy itself will earn dividend returns from the company for the full cash value, regardless of outstanding loans. Additionally, legacy planning is simpler because life insurance benefits are generally tax-free when passed on to beneficiaries.”

Brad notes that IBC is often a great solution for small business owners, providing access to cash to finance business purchases such as rental properties, but still generating an annual dividend payment on the full investment. “It is a tax-advantaged way to cash flow your business.”

He offers a wide range of financial services, helping clients plan for long-term care, retirement income, tax strategy, and leaving a legacy. He is a broker representing 120 companies, giving his clients access to the best investment strategies to fit their needs. “I offer in-person and Zoom meetings and conduct an annual review with all my clients. That regular review is especially critical for Medicare and IBC.”

Born in Texas, Brad is a graduate of Howard Payne University in Brownwood, where he studied U.S. History and Economics. After a short career in the food and beverage industry, he forged a career in insurance. He and his wife, Hailey, were married in 2020 and relocated to Illinois, her home state, during the COVID shutdown.

They settled in Geneva to be near her family in St. Charles and welcomed their son Declan in 2021. Brad and Hailey enjoy travel, and traveling with Declan has been a new adventure. Their favorite recent family trip was to beautiful Prague in the Czech Republic.

In addition to serving many local clients, including residents of Fox Mill, Brad invests in the community through volunteer work.

“Key Retirement Solutions works closely with BraveHearts for Kids, a local organization dedicated to supporting families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis.” The group provides mentoring, information, and emotional support to affected families, including “aftercare” gifts when a child or family returns from the hospital. “Families can use these funds for things like restocking the fridge, catching up on bills, paying off travel expenses, or hiring childcare. For any client of ours that provides a referral that we meet with, we donate $10 to BraveHearts for Kids.”

Brad also belongs to the Kane County Triad, a community board focused on senior citizen safety, healthcare, and living. He has enjoyed contributing to the educational and recreational events that are offered throughout the year for area seniors.
