Known, Seen, and Cherished: The Ruth Project’s Impact on Illinois’ Foster Children

The Ruth Project is changing the lives of foster children by ensuring that each child feels known, seen, and cherished. Located just west of us in Sycamore, The Farm will serve 1,000 foster children every month in 2025. The project offers more than just material support—it provides a sense of community, belonging, and hope for children who are often displaced and facing uncertain futures.
The Ruth Project extends its reach through two primary locations: The Farm in Sycamore and The Storehouse in Elgin. These spaces serve as hubs for foster families to gather resources like clothing, toys, and essential items to care for children arriving with little to nothing. More importantly, they help build a support system around these families, offering them guidance, love, and compassion.
Stroll Thornwood partners and Thornwood families are already stepping up, volunteering their time and resources to support The Ruth Project’s mission. With 18,000 foster children living within 60 minutes of our homes, the need for assistance is urgent, and The Ruth Project is committed to filling that gap with care, consistency and dedication.
