Presnail Photography turns portraits into something deeply personal.

Lisa Presnail

For more than four decades, Florida’s sun, salt air, and mangroves have held a special pull for Lisa Presnail. After moving from the Detroit area, she put down roots in St. Petersburg and built a life shaped by creativity, connection, and a deep appreciation for people and place. Today, through Presnail Photography, she brings those same values into her work, creating portraits that feel honest, powerful, and unmistakably human.
Lisa lives near Tierra Verde on the water with her boyfriend, Charley, and their adopted dog, Nigel Barker. Family is central to her world. Her two sisters, whom she calls her best friends, now live nearby, turning everyday moments like holiday planning into something joyful and shared. When she is not behind the camera, Lisa enjoys boating, music, dancing, time with friends, and soaking up as much Florida sunshine as possible.
Her path to photography was anything but conventional. After years in property management, Lisa began bringing a camera to corporate meetings, quietly capturing candid moments of people simply being themselves. What started as a creative outlet quickly turned into a calling. Colleagues asked her to photograph their families and milestones, and soon she stepped away from her corporate career entirely. That leap of faith was followed by an early baptism by fire, photographing a large wedding that included celebrity guests. The experience was chaotic, surreal, and unforgettable, and it cemented her love for portraiture.
Presnail Photography focuses on portraits in all their forms, including headshots, families, pets, weddings, events, glamour, and boudoir. Lisa works both in the studio and on location and has traveled internationally on assignment. She also collaborates with a trusted network of professionals, offering services such as hair and makeup, styling, video, drone work, and design support when projects require it.
What truly sets Lisa apart is her ability to highlight feminine strength and beauty in a way that feels both confident and approachable. Her signature style is instantly recognizable, especially through projects like the Little Pet Project, which blends her passion for boudoir photography with longtime advocacy for dog rescue. Her reviews speak for themselves:

From Amy:
"Lisa captures joy like no one I know. I have had her shoot multiple events and even my own wedding and I'm so in love with the way she can get the best shots without killing the mood or halting the momentum. Her empathy and compassion for others shows in the way she shows you the best version of people with her photos. Her creativity and whimsy are well balanced with the professionalism and skill she shows in all of her projects. Can't say it any other way; hire this woman today."

From Michelle:
"Lisa has been photographing me since 2007 and she is the only person I have take my professional photos. She’s truly a magician with light and camera angles and so wonderful to work with!!"

From Heather:
"Lisa is a caring, thoughtful, talented professional who I have been working with for 15 years. She has taken my professional headshots on several occasions as well as photos of my family and did a beautiful boudoir session that rocked my husband’s world! You won’t find a more loving, creative soul than Lisa. I highly recommend!!"

With rave reviews, Lisa still finds time to continue to support animal welfare efforts and is newly active with the Tierra Verde Rotary Club.

Looking ahead, Lisa is developing a portrait series celebrating women aged 50 and up, honoring their stories, confidence, and individuality. Her advice to neighbors is simple and heartfelt. Do not wait for the perfect moment to be photographed. Show up as you are, smile fully, and bring your heart (and maybe your dog, too).
