Moving Forward with Care -- The Story Behind B&W Moving and Cleanouts
From police officer to business owner, Aaron Woodworth built B&W Moving and Cleanouts on compassion, respect, and a commitment to serving families in every stage of life.
For Aaron Woodworth, owner of B&W Moving and Cleanouts, service has always been a central part of his life.
A longtime Ipswich resident and full-time police officer, Aaron built his company from a simple belief: treat people and their belongings with respect.
“What began as a simple act of service has grown into a mission,” he says. “Every move, every cleanout, every customer is treated like family. We want people to move forward in life with dignity and peace of mind.”
Built on Service and Resilience
Aaron grew up in Ipswich in a hardworking family. His father worked in purchasing, and his mother cared for individuals with developmental disabilities. As a teenager, Aaron worked at a petting farm, catered events, and did moving jobs whenever he could. He went on to play college baseball at Wentworth Institute of Technology before transferring to UMass Lowell with plans to become a police officer.
During that time, Aaron’s family experienced a house fire that left them with nothing. Not long after, they lost their land due to eminent domain. Those events shaped his outlook and deepened his understanding of how quickly life can change.
“Having lost everything in a fire, I know how much emotional value people attach to their belongings,” Aaron explains. “In many cases, these aren’t ‘junk’ items—they’re pieces of a person’s life.”
Aaron eventually became a full-time police officer in 2008, around the time he and his wife, Sarah, welcomed the first of their four children. Years later, his sister—who works in human services—called him for help when an individual with developmental disabilities needed an urgent move. The original movers had left, and the client needed to be out by the end of the day. Aaron and his brother-in-law, Rogers, stepped in, rented a truck, and completed the move with care and patience.
“That day could have been chaotic and upsetting,” Aaron recalls. “Instead, it became a peaceful transition. We realized there was a real need for this kind of approach.”
What started as occasional help for local organizations soon turned into B&W Moving LLC. After becoming fully licensed and insured, Aaron and Rogers expanded their services to the general public. As customers began asking for help removing unwanted items during moves, cleanout services became a natural addition, and B&W Moving and Cleanouts was formed.
Moving, Cleanouts, and a Commitment to Respect
Today, the company provides residential moves of all sizes, from apartments to full homes. Aaron and his team handle local moves with attention to detail and careful planning.
“Moving doesn’t have to be stressful,” he says. “Our packing services are designed so you can sit back, relax, and know everything is being handled with care—from fragile items to everyday essentials.”
The team also offers professional packing and organized storage solutions, ensuring items are protected and easy to access later.
Cleanouts are another important part of the business. Whether a family is downsizing, managing an estate, or clearing out a storage unit, B&W approaches each job thoughtfully. Aaron made a deliberate decision never to use the term “junk removal.” Instead, items are loaded discreetly into the company’s trucks and taken to a warehouse for sorting. Usable items are donated, recyclables are processed appropriately, and landfill waste is minimized whenever possible.
“Spring is a natural time for a fresh start,” Aaron says. “When people are cleaning out garages, basements, and storage units, we want to help them do it responsibly. If we can keep something out of the landfill and give it a second life through donation or recycling, that’s important to us.”
The company has grown from two people with a rented truck to multiple full- and part-time team members. Staff members Sarah and Natalie help keep operations running smoothly and ensure communication with clients is clear and timely.
Rooted in Family, Guided by Service
Rooted in Family, Guided by Service
Beyond his business, Aaron remains committed to his family and community. He and Sarah are raising four children, and his work as a police officer continues alongside his leadership of B&W.
Early on, the company introduced itself to the community by selling slush at a local craft fair and donating proceeds to the Council on Aging, building relationships that led to meaningful moves and cleanouts for local seniors.
Looking back, Aaron sees a clear thread connecting his upbringing, his law enforcement career, and his business.
“We love what we do and all the connections we’ve made along the way,” he says. “We’re forever grateful for the clients who trust us. At the end of the day, it’s about lending a helping hand when people need it most.”
