Thea’s Best Friend, Frida
Seven-year-old Thea Pollock introduces us to Frida, the energetic rescue pup who has bounded her way into the Pollock family’s hearts—and found a best friend for life.
For six years, the Pollock family–parents Kate and Jamie, and their children Owen and Thea–have called Topsfield home. But on January 15, 2025, from Gal’s Best Pal in Amesbury, they brought home a Black Labrador retriever and German shepherd mix named Frida.
“My parents got her for me for my seventh birthday,” Thea says. “She came with that name and we kept it because it suits her.” The family learned that the name Frida means peace and strength, which turned out to be a great fit for her personality.
Frida immediately settled into life in Topsfield, bringing an abundance of energy and fun to the entire household. Frida’s speed and athleticism always entertain the Pollocks, with Thea noting that her pup can “jump as high as a gazelle.” In fact, watching Frida leap carefreely in the yard has become a joy for their family–whenever she’s around, there will always be smiles.
When it comes to daily routines, Thea knows the specifics best. “Her favorite toy is a red ball that she has ripped a few holes in, but she won’t play with any other ball,” says Thea. “She loves it so much.”

What Frida also loves is going for walks at Bradley Palmer State Park–a place where she can spend time with her favorite people and unleash her boundless energy. When she finally needs to rest, her favorite place to recharge is Kate and Jamie’s bed.
Having Frida in their lives has brought nonstop joy to the Pollocks every single day. “Frida is the most adorable, sweet, loving, and caring puppy ever,” says Thea. The future isn’t set in stone, but one thing’s for sure: Thea and Frida will be best friends forever.
