Coming Together for a Cause

Neighbors, Led by Anita Stephens, Support NC Hurricane Helene Victims

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, our neighborhood rallied in a powerful display of community spirit and compassion. It all started on October 5th, when neighbor Anita Stephens took the initiative to collect donations to support victims in North Carolina affected by the storm's devastating impact. Thanks to the generosity of our residents, by October 21st, an entire room was filled with essential items for those in need.

Donations poured in, including cleaning supplies, baby essentials, personal hygiene products, and even a mini-refrigerator for insulin and other medications. Neighbors also contributed blankets, winter supplies, and pet essentials—items critical for families preparing for the colder months ahead. This overwhelming response highlighted our community's deep commitment to making a difference.

With a roomful of donations ready to go, Anita and her team stepped up to transport everything to their Braselton office. Then, on Thursday, October 24th, their Birmingham, Alabama, office sent a truck and trailer to meet the team at the Braselton location. Together, they loaded up the supplies and transported them to Asheville, North Carolina, where arrangements were in place for storage and distribution to local communities.

In Asheville, the team became the "boots on the ground," distributing these critical supplies to communities impacted by the hurricane until roadways were cleared. Thanks to their organization and efforts, essential goods made it into the hands of those who needed them most.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to everyone who contributed, dropping off items on Anita's porch and helping spread the word. This relief effort showcased not only our neighborhood’s compassion but also the power of coming together to support those in need.
