Alexandra Dimoff Brings Compassionate Therapy to the Community

Taking the time to listen to and understand her clients and make them feel safe are the core values of Alexandra Dimoff’s practice. She has been in private practice for two years and brings nine years of experience working in the mental health field. Alexandra started her career in community mental health, treating clients in their homes, schools, and community settings. One of her utmost responsibilities was bridging communication between families and schools to ensure the best treatment outcomes for children.

Upon receiving her professional counseling license, Alexandra decided to open her own practice. “I wanted to be able to help clients on my own terms without having too many cooks in the kitchen, and I had a vision for what my space would look like,” she explains. “Today, that vision is my reality.”

Alexandra offers diagnosis and treatment for a variety of mental health disorders, including anxiety, ADHD, depression, insomnia, OCD, and PTSD in both children and adults. Sessions are sixty minutes and may be facilitated in person or via telehealth. Sessions are individual, and for child clients, parents or family members are welcome to participate for the transference of skills. She also works with couples.

Her office feels like home, designed to make clients feel welcome and comfortable during what can be an emotionally heavy hour. Her favorite part of her space is her seasonal décor. “I have so much fun decorating for every season and holiday and giving my clients something cheerful to look at when they first walk in,” she shares.
Alexandra is also deeply connected to the local community. As a member of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, her dues go back into supporting local initiatives. She has been a vendor at several community events, with her favorite being a teacher wellness day for the Shaler Area School District. Having worked in community mental health, she enjoyed going into classrooms and getting to know teachers — a group she continues to serve and support through her work.

Like many business owners, Alexandra has faced challenges along the way. “I do my own billing, so I had to teach myself how to bill by seeking out training,” she says. “I am proud to say I am a one-woman show and do it all!”
Looking ahead, Alexandra hopes to expand her professional accomplishments beyond counseling. “Beyond counseling clients, I would like to add publisher to my curriculum vitae,” she says.

She also offers heartfelt advice to parents in the community: “Many of the residents have school-age children and teenagers. If you see any signs that your child is struggling—socially withdrawing, not doing well in school, lacking motivation to do schoolwork or chores—seek help now. It may only take a handful of sessions for the parent and child to leave with the tools they need to feel emotionally equipped. Once your child turns eighteen, they do not have to consent to treatment. Resistance or noncompliance are barriers to seeking and participating in treatment. Also, parents must monitor their child’s social media and electronic use.”

A client shared this touching testimonial: “Alexandra Dimoff is a wonderful counselor!! She helped me through the toughest of times last year when my daughter passed away, tragically. Losing a child is horrible in every way, and it's not what any parent wants to go through! Alexandra let me cry, vent, get mad over this tragedy, and helped me through my grief and loss. She is compassionate, caring, and very knowledgeable in her profession. My young son is also counseled by Alexandra. He was bullied at a private school he attended for kindergarten and mistreated by a family there. He is doing well now thanks to Alexandra's help for the past couple of years! She is a great counselor! We are thankful for her help!”

Alexandra is currently accepting new clients with afternoon and evening availability.
