Meet the Team at Barnes Fine Jewelers
Celebrating 30 years of serving Val Vista Lakes and the East Valley with stunning jewelry!
Why did you start your business?
I (Paul Barnes) started our family jewelry business with the goal of creating something that not only offered beautiful, high-quality pieces but also carried the heart and soul of our family’s values. Thirty years ago, my wife (Susan Barnes) and I saw an opportunity to bring personal service and craftsmanship to an industry that could sometimes feel impersonal. We wanted to create a space where we could design jewelry that truly spoke to our customers, whether for a special occasion or a meaningful gift. Now, after three decades, we’re proud to have built lasting relationships with our customers and to continue celebrating life's moments with the pieces we create. As we celebrate this milestone, we're proud of the relationships we've built and the legacy we've started. Looking ahead, we hope to continue building the business with our son Ryan, passing down the traditions of craftsmanship, care, and personal service to future generations. We’re truly grateful for the past 30 years and look forward to what’s to come.
Who does your business serve? Who is your ideal client?
We create jewelry for people who value quality, craftsmanship, and meaning. Whether it’s a simple repair or a once-in-a-lifetime purchase, every customer receives the same care and attention. Our customers come to us for milestones such as engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, or simply to celebrate themselves or someone they love. They appreciate that each piece is crafted with intention and that they’re supporting a family-owned business that’s been part of the community for 30 years. We love working with people who want something special and timeless, and who see their jewelry as more than just an accessory, but a reflection of their story.
How does your business differentiate itself from others in your industry?
What makes our business different from others in the industry is the personal touch and commitment to quality that comes with being a family-owned operation. We've been in this business for 30 years, and in that time, we’ve built strong, lasting relationships with our customers by treating them like family. We believe in offering not just jewelry, but an experience based on trust, honesty, and a genuine passion for what we do. We take pride in the craftsmanship and attention to detail in every piece we offer. We also take the time to listen to our customers’ needs, guiding them through the process and ensuring they find something that truly reflects their style and story. Our goal isn’t just to make a sale, but to help our customers celebrate their most meaningful moments with pieces they’ll cherish forever.

Ryan – Bench Jeweler & Future Owner
Ryan has been part of the family business since the age of 12, starting out by cleaning the shop and learning simple jewelry repair techniques from his dad from a young age. Over the years, his passion for the craft grew, leading him to train as a skilled bench jeweler and graduate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as a certified gemologist. Today, Ryan specializes in jewelry repair, custom design, and stone setting. His technical expertise, combined with a deep respect for the store’s 30-year legacy, positions him to carry the business forward with the same values of quality, trust, and personal service that have defined it from the beginning.
Amy – Operations Associate
We’re so lucky to have Amy on our team and in our family! Married to our son Ryan, she plays a key role in keeping both our books and our marketing efforts running smoothly. She brings a sharp eye for detail and a genuine enthusiasm for learning, always looking for new ways to improve our processes and stay up to date with current trends. Her dedication, curiosity, and fresh perspective help keep our store moving forward in a fast-changing world.
Casey – Sales Associate
Casey has been a valued member of our team for over 20 years and is truly like family. Her deep knowledge of jewelry, friendly personality, and genuine care for our customers have made her a trusted face in the store and a big part of what makes our service so personal. In addition to helping customers find the perfect piece, Casey is also skilled in pearl stringing. This is a delicate craft that reflects her attention to detail and commitment to quality. Outside of work, Casey enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their two kids. Her warmth, expertise, and dedication shine through in everything she does, both in and out of the store.
Natalie – Sales Associate
Natalie brings creativity, care, and a passion for storytelling to her role as a sales associate. One of her favorite parts of the business is working with customers to transform sentimental pieces into something new, giving cherished heirlooms new life while preserving their emotional meaning. She loves guiding customers through the design process and helping them create jewelry that feels deeply personal and unique. Natalie's thoughtful approach and eye for detail make her a valued part of our team and a favorite among customers looking for meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Payge – Sales Associate
Payge is a newer addition to the jewelry industry, but her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn have quickly made her a valuable part of our team. She has a genuine love for jewelry and enjoys helping our customers find pieces that match their style and story. Payge brings a fresh perspective and a warm, approachable energy to the store. When she’s not learning the ins and outs of the trade, she enjoys relaxing with a good book and spending time with her two beloved cats.
