Introducing Larissa Taylor from Taylor'd Living Wellness
Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family
Born in Seattle, Washington, my family moved us to the growing town of Gilbert Arizona in 1999. Where my parents assisted in building a house in a new development called Ashland ranch, a neighborhood amongst farms. Since 1999, I have lived in the east valley, going to highland jr. where my mom was an English turned P.E teacher, attended Highland high school, where my father was the varsity basketball coach for my freshman year. Our family was deep into the community, from being teachers and basketball coaches, to my mom starting a gilbert unified team for Special Olympics.
Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now…
I have always been an athlete, Track and Field, was my home. Starting in 8th grade, my family and I were heavily involved with the gilbert roadrunners unified Special Olympics team, with this a new passion emerged. Doing all kinds of sports with Special Olympics was hitting a calling I never thought, working with kids with disabilities was a rollercoaster of joy and responsibility, learning to navigate the good days and the bad. By the age of 18, I had quite a few different kiddos I was a care provider for. As I loved learning all the ways to take care of people and meet them where they are at, grew the passion of healing. An inspiring family from Canada had a business in muscle manipulation that I had never heard or seen before. I Immediately grew interested, and eventually landed on Arizona school for Massage Therapy, at the first meeting there, I knew this place was different. I got the clinical feel, not the spa vibes. I did not want to learn to "rub lotion on people", I wanted to help. This was the place for me. After graduating, I worked for a pain management clinic. I learned so much about the wellness world, from stretch therapy, Kinesio Tape, to lidocaine Injections. Moving from this world, I started working for a lady who was building her private practice. I was the first therapist she ever hired, and we learned about the business world together it felt like. Her business grew quickly and we were always busy. I worked my way to Manager and learned a whole new side to business. All these steps I took I knew were leading me to where I'm going now
What is your business, how/why did you start your business?
I started as a solo mobile Massage business called Larissa Lovely LMT, I have set my sights to grow bigger. Now, Taylor'd Living wellness, it a 2-room studio with 3 therapists working and we are open Monday through Saturday. I started this business because I feel massage needs to be shared, with the knowledge that it is beneficial for so many aspects of our lives outside of relaxation.
What is unique about your business?
Taylor'd Living Wellness, is a company committed to providing accessible, affordable muscle therapy that empowers everyday people to break free from physical limitations and live life tailored to their own terms. I am committed to live my life without limitations. As many of us experience as we get older, we have aches and pains in our daily activities, or we just refrain from doing them all together to avoid the hurt later. I started this business to say, "I do what I want!" to my body. With the wealth of health, I'm able to go to the gym 5 days a week, ride bikes with my daughter and backpack with my husband on his long adventures. I want to be able to use stairs as I age or play that game of pickleball on the weekend with friends. At Taylor'd living wellness, we are your assists in helping your musculoskeletal, circulatory and lymphatic system stay on track so you can do all the things your life requires. Here, you're not a number, or a session length, when you book a 60-minute massage, you get 60 minutes of hands-on work. Each session you will be asked about what you want to focus on, how you felt after the last session, and what your personal goals are. From our knowledge of everything from myofascial release to lymphatic drainage, we want to customize everything for you.
