Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family
I grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin and moved to Scottsdale in 2009 to escape the cold! That’s where I eventually met my husband. As our family began to grow, we decided to settle down in Gilbert and find a great neighborhood for our kids to grow up in. We’ve now been here for almost three years and have really enjoyed this community.
My husband Bryan and I have two kids: Aden, 7, who just started second grade and loves sports and hanging out with his friends; and Myla, 5, who just started kindergarten and is all about dance, making crafts, and playing with all her babies!
Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now…
I attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood and Adolescence. Before becoming a mom, I taught preschool, first, and second grade, and in the evenings, I led Barre classes at a local fitness studio.
What is your business, how/why did you start your business?
My business, Mama Barre, was born when my daughter was just 7 months old. I was already teaching Barre at the time and wanted to find a way to keep doing what I love without missing precious time with her. CA Yoga Barre, the studio I was teaching at the time was able to provide the perfect space to get started.
Today, Mama Barre is both a fitness program and a supportive judgment-free community for moms in every season of motherhood. We offer various formats; Barre, Pilates and HIIT. Our baby-friendly classes are rooted in connection, consistency, and strength, designed to help you feel good in your body while connecting with others on a similar journey.
What is unique about your business?
We’re offering more than just a workout class. We’re creating a space where moms can move their bodies without needing to find childcare, enjoy a social experience for both themselves and their babies, and truly build community.
Our classes are designed to support your physical and emotional well-being, whether you’re newly postpartum or several years into motherhood. Because let’s be honest, we all need a safe space to vent and celebrate the milestones, challenges and joys of motherhood.
What makes Mama Barre unique is the blend of fitness, friendship, and flexibility. We understand the unpredictability of mom life; babies cry, toddlers wander, naps get skipped and we welcome all of it. You don’t have to choose between taking care of yourself and taking care of your little one. Here, you get to do both.
What else we should know about you, your family, or your business?
Mama Barre offers classes all around the Valley! We started in Scottsdale and have since expanded to Phoenix, Gilbert, Chandler, and Queen Creek.
We welcome ALL MOMS; pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. Whether you’re expecting, newly postpartum, or chasing a toddler, our classes are designed with you in mind. Babies and toddlers are always welcome.
We run most classes as a 6-week series to really focus on the community-building aspect of Mama Barre. Showing up week after week with the same group helps foster connection, routine, and real support.
We also know that structure isn’t for everyone, that’s why we offer flexible drop-in options, shorter sessions and special events, Girls’ Night, Couples Classes, Booty Barre and more!
Looking for something more personalized? We also offer private group classes, perfect for moms’ groups, birthdays, bachelorettes or just an excuse to move and connect with your crew.
