Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family.
I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I’ve lived in Arizona for 21 years and have been in Gilbert for the past 9. I have a wonderful husband, Darren, and three beautiful children: Zaden (7), Lilou (6), and Vesper (2).

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
Before college, I worked a few jobs in the car business, including selling cars and processing titles. I then attended Arizona State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I worked as a speech-language pathology assistant, which I enjoyed, but it wasn’t financially sustainable at the time.

I returned to the car industry, working at DriveTime buying cars, which I also liked. However, after having my second child, Lilou, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom. That decision gave me the opportunity to grow Elite Sweets into what it is today.
What is your business, and how/why did you start it?
While I was at ASU, I discovered I had a dairy and egg allergy. It was hard to find treats I could eat, so I started baking for myself. Others I knew had similar or different allergies, and I began baking for them as well. Everyone really enjoyed what I made, and that sparked the idea to start my own bakery business!

What is unique about your business? What sets you apart from the rest?
I run a custom, made-to-order bakery—everything I bake is tailored to what the customer wants. That includes flavors, ingredients, dietary restrictions, and design. I offer vegan, gluten-friendly, nut-friendly, keto, and more… and yes, even regular baked goods!

When you order from Elite Sweets Bakery, you're getting something that’s freshly made with high-quality ingredients—none of the preservatives and additives found in pre-packaged grocery store treats.
Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advicecan you offer to your neighbors?
My advice is to lean into whatever you’re good at and give starting your own business a try! It can be a lot of work, but it’s incredibly fulfilling to complete a project (or a cake!) and know that you created something with your own hands. Plus, you only have to answer to yourself.
