The Blackwells are Passionate About Each Other and Victoria Park
Several years ago, upon visiting Fort Lauderdale and contemplating asking the most
beautiful girl in the world to marry me, I made an important decision. Not only would I
ask her to marry me, but I wanted us to live in the most beautiful city I’d ever seen!
I not only married her, but we also made our life here in Fort Lauderdale. We specifically
live within Victoria Park and officially made the move back in 2020. We absolutely love
the neighborhood: the amazing trees, walking to Las Olas, and the close vicinity to the
beach.
Madelyn and I are the proud parents of four rather large fur babies! Nala, Lady,
Boomer, and Stetson Bennett V are currently our only, and favorite children. You
might be able to tell by their names that we are passionate about Disney (another great
perk to living in Florida!) and the University of Georgia football.
Madelyn and I are both from Cartersville, Georgia, a small town on the northwest side of
Atlanta. We originally met in elementary school and frequently competed to see who
was the better athlete. Our lives took separate paths as we pursued different interests
and dreams, as we both continued to be athletes (Madelyn, a gymnast, and myself as a
baseball and basketball player).
In 2016, we later reconnected in college at the University of Georgia. (Go Dawgs!) I
asked her to marry me with the help of the Lion King cast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom,
and we even later had engagement pictures taken along Las Olas. As I said before,
there are some common themes in our lives! As of September 2023, we will have been
happily married for 5 years and look forward to the many years to come and continue
to build our lives in Fort Lauderdale.
My wife and I both have our own businesses. Madelyn is a third-party recruiter helping
companies across the country fill in employee gaps and I am the owner of Home
Fitness To You, which is a personal training business focused on making personal
fitness personal by training within my clients’ homes.
I’m passionate about personal fitness, but I’m also passionate about clean trash cans.
Yes, you heard that right! I’m so passionate about it that we have a business that does
just that. Because of our love for the community and wanting to maintain its beauty,
Madelyn and I recently started a trash can cleaning company together called Can
Cleanse. We have a truck fully outfitted to perfectly clean and sanitize residential
outdoor trash cans to make sure neighborhoods around the area don’t overly stink or
attract unwanted pests. While walking through the city with our dogs, we spotted a
need. It’s been fascinating to learn how to grow this particular business and continue
our entrepreneurial spirit in another surprisingly niche industry.
We love getting to meet new people and customers while out on our routes to
build new relationships within this great city. We work with residents, Airbnb owners, and
property management companies alike and even offer trash valet services to further
help other local businesses continue to thrive.
As you can tell, we work many hours! However, we are honored to do so and honored
to serve the people of this beautiful and historic city. As much as we work, we love our
time off here too! Our favorite things to do in Fort Lauderdale are going to Downtown
Harbor Church on Sundays, working out together at Rise Athletics & Wellness and
trying out new, local restaurants most weekends. Our favorite weekend tradition,
however, is during the fall when we go back to Georgia to root for our beloved Dawgs
for what hopefully will be another National Championship. Apologies to any Gator fans
out there, but our company colors do happen to be green, orange and blue!
