Leading From Within: How Dr. Ashley Alderette Helps High-Performers Master Pressure
Through her coaching practice, Dr. Ashley Alderette is helping leaders regulate pressure, sharpen decision-making, and sustain success without sacrificing their health or relationships.
For Dr. Ashley Alderette, success has never been defined solely by achievement. Instead, it has always been rooted in curiosity, discipline, and a deep commitment to helping others operate at their best - even when the pressure is highest. Today, as the founder of Dr. Ashley Alderette Coaching, she has built a growing reputation as a psychologist-trained high-performance strategist specializing in nervous system regulation for high-performing leaders. She trains leaders to sharpen their decision-making, regulate pressure, and sustain success without sacrificing their health or relationships.
Her journey into the world of leadership performance began in a family that emphasized education and mutual support. Dr. Alderette grew up as the oldest of four siblings in a close-knit household where intellectual curiosity and ambition were encouraged.
“My brother Jeffrey is a lawyer in Washington, D.C., my brother Tyler is a psychiatrist here in Fort Lauderdale, and my youngest sister, Rileigh, is finishing her senior year of high school,” Dr. Alderette said. “Even though we’ve each chosen different paths, we’ve always shared a strong drive to learn and grow.”
Her parents, Marjorie and Jeffrey Alderette, were originally from Pittsburgh, PA where Dr. Alderette was born. When she was around 10 years old, the family moved to Arlington, VA. Despite living in the Mid-Atlantic region, South Florida always held a special place in her heart.
“My grandparents lived in Miami, so we visited often when I was growing up,” she explained. “Those trips created a connection to South Florida that stayed with me.”
That connection ultimately influenced her decision to relocate to Fort Lauderdale about two and a half years ago. For Dr. Alderette, the region’s energy and diversity made it the perfect place to grow both personally and professionally.
“South Florida always felt vibrant and full of opportunity,” she said. “There’s an energy here that encourages people to pursue big ideas and connect with others who are doing the same.”
Dr. Alderette’s professional path reflects a deep commitment to understanding human behavior and emotional resilience. She earned her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University and previously completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
For more than a decade, her work focused on helping individuals and couples navigate challenges such as anxiety, trauma, relationship conflict, and performance pressure. Over the years, she trained in a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), psychodynamic therapy, and the Gottman Method for couples.
She is also currently completing training in Somatic Experiencing, a modality that focuses on how the nervous system processes stress and trauma.
While the clinical work was meaningful, Dr. Alderette eventually realized that many high-achieving professionals needed something beyond traditional therapy.
“I started to see that high-performing leaders didn’t just need insight,” she said. “They needed practical systems they could apply in the boardroom, in high-stakes negotiations, and at home.”
That realization led her to create Dr. Ashley Alderette Coaching, a coaching and consulting practice designed specifically for executives, entrepreneurs, and leadership teams operating under intense pressure.
Today, Dr. Alderette works with clients across the United States and internationally through virtual sessions. Her work focuses on helping leaders develop emotional regulation, strategic clarity, and communication authority in high-stakes environments.
Her methodology blends neuroscience, somatic psychology, and performance science to train what she describes as “the internal system that protects and strengthens a leader’s competitive edge.” Dr. Alderette believes the next evolution of leadership development will focus less on strategy alone and more on physiology. If you get the psychology right, the strategy becomes easier to learn. “Leadership has a physiological ceiling,” she explains. “When leaders learn to regulate their nervous systems, they gain access to clearer thinking, make better decisions, and lead with greater stability under pressure.”
“Leaders rarely fail because they lack strategy; they fail when pressure and limiting beliefs destabilize their internal state,” Dr. Alderette explained.
By strengthening that internal state, Dr. Alderette says leaders can dramatically improve how they think, communicate, lead and execute.
“After working together, clients move from reactivity to regulation and from burnout to strategic clarity,” she said. “They make decisions with clarity, communicate with greater authority, and operate under pressure without burning out.”
The results often extend far beyond the workplace.
Many of Dr. Alderette’s clients report sleeping better, having more energy, and experiencing stronger personal relationships. Some leaders who initially sought help for performance strategies ultimately repair strained marriages, reconnect with their families, and rediscover balance and purpose in their lives.
“They don’t become less ambitious,” Dr. Alderette said. “They become more sustainable and more respected.”
What makes her work unique is the combination of clinical expertise and lived experience navigating high-pressure environments.
“There was a season where I was operating in survival mode and pushing through burnout,” she said. “That experience forced me to apply the same regulation principles I now teach. I understand ambition from the inside, not just academically.”
In addition to her coaching practice, Dr. Alderette speaks at leadership and personal development events on topics such as emotional regulation, embodied leadership, and the hidden performance costs of stress. Her work focuses on helping leaders and high-performing professionals understand how nervous system regulation directly impacts decision-making, communication, and long-term leadership effectiveness.
She recently served as a featured speaker at GifterX Talks, an event series founded by Fortune 100 speaker Christopher Kai, where she delivered a presentation on mastering internal state to strengthen leadership execution.
For Dr. Alderette, integrity remains the foundation of everything she teaches.
“I won’t teach a principle I haven’t tested,” she said. “And I won’t promote an approach I wouldn’t trust with the people closest to me.”
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Alderette maintains an active lifestyle that reflects the same commitment to discipline and wellness she encourages in her clients.
She enjoys strength training, yoga, traveling, and outdoor activities throughout South Florida. Fitness competitions and endurance events are also a family tradition.
“One of my favorite things is training for Spartan races with my dad and my brother Tyler,” she said. “Preparing for those races together has created great memories and keeps us connected.”
Dr. Alderette also enjoys playing pickleball and participating in fitness events such as Spartan Races and HYROX competitions. Her love of animals began early in life as well, growing up in a household with dogs.
Professionally and socially, she stays connected to the local community through networking events and organizations such as the Tower Club Fort Lauderdale. The club has become a hub for connecting with entrepreneurs and professionals across South Florida.
“There are so many inspiring people in this community,” she said. “It’s a great place to meet leaders who are building meaningful things in different industries.”
She also remains active in professional organizations including the American Psychological Association and the EMDR International Association, ensuring she stays connected to the latest research in psychology and behavioral science.
For Dr. Alderette, leadership ultimately comes down to mastering both your internal and external states.
Her philosophy can be summed up in three words: regulated, disciplined, and strategic.
“External pressure is part of leadership,” she said. “When leaders learn to regulate their internal state, they gain the clarity, stability, and authority needed to lead at the highest level.”
As her coaching practice continues to grow, Dr. Alderette remains focused on the deeper purpose behind her work.
“Influence carries responsibility,” she said. “Behind every client or audience is a person navigating real pressure. My role is to help them feel clear, capable, and strong.”
In a world where ambition often comes at the cost of balance, Dr. Ashley Alderette is working to prove that sustainable success is possible and that the strongest leaders are the ones who have learned to lead themselves first.
“The strongest leaders aren’t the ones who avoid pressure,” Dr. Alderette says. “They’re the ones who know how to regulate themselves inside of it.
