Gary Banas was born and raised in a small town outside of Buffalo, NY.

As a child, he worked on his grandfather’s farm, driving tractors at age 10. He went to work at his uncle’s car dealership as a salesman at the age of 19. When his uncle sold the car dealership, Gary went and worked for several other auto dealerships in the area.

He has been an F&I manager, a New Car sales manager and a Used Car sales manager. He last worked in the car business at an AutoNation dealership in Buffalo. It was called Al Maroone Ford and was the original dealership of the many Maroone dealerships which were sold out to AutoNation.

Living in Buffalo, Gary spent quite a bit of time during the winter in South Florida and once owned a condo in Pompano Beach. Several years ago, his uncle, George Coloney, suggested that he move to Fort Lauderdale and join him in the real estate business.

Gary was all set to make the move south when his brother, who was living in San Diego at the time, came home to visit. When Gary told his brother of his plans to move to Florida, his brother suggested that he join him in California instead. Gary made the move west. After arriving in San Diego, Gary worked as an assistant manager of a furniture store. The company for which he worked transferred Gary to Bakersfield, CA in order for him to be an assistant manager of a 100,000 square foot furniture store.

After a couple years, unfortunately, the company decided to liquidate.

Finding himself out of a job, Gary opened and operated a small 10,000 square foot furniture and mattress store. Business was okay, but then Covid hit. “The state of California forced me to close the store for more than two months,” Gary stated. “Upon re-opening, there were supply chain issues which made doing business even more difficult.”

When Gary’s lease was up, he decided to finally join Uncle George in Fort Lauderdale and become a realtor. Gary works with his uncle at The Coloney Group which is part of the Keyes Company.

You will usually find Gary hosting Open Houses in Victoria Park and throughout the region on weekends. When he is not working, he is normally at the beach riding a jet ski. He enjoys walking his French Bulldog, Skye, watching sports, reading and dining out. He also works out several times a week.

Gary has green eyes. Only 2% of the worlds population has green eyes.

Gary is also RH negative with A- blood type. Less than 3% of the worlds population has A- blood.
