Rooted in Community
From neighborhood gatherings at Frogmore Green to busy days filled with sports, family traditions, and community involvement, the Chalas family has embraced the welcoming spirit of the Village of WestClay.
Building a Life Centered on Community and Connection
For Greg and Amanda Chalas, life in the Village of WestClay is centered on connection, activity, and making meaningful memories together as a family. Along with their three children, Sam, Margaret, and George, the Chalas family has created a home filled with energy, involvement, and strong relationships with neighbors and friends.
The family has lived in the neighborhood for the past seven years. Greg is originally from Boston, while Amanda is from Lexington, Kentucky. Since moving to the Village of WestClay, they have embraced everything the community has to offer and say one of their favorite aspects of living there is how naturally it encourages friendships and neighbor interaction.
A Busy and Active Household
The Chalas household is always on the move. Sam, age 8, is finishing second grade and enjoys participating in golf, tennis, flag football, baseball, basketball, and the Vortex swim team. Margaret, age 6, is completing kindergarten and stays just as active with golf, tennis, Colts Junior Cheer, ballet, and the Vortex swim team. George, age 3, attends preschool and has already started swim lessons at Carmel Swim Academy.
Adding even more excitement to the family is Bobby Jones, their four-month-old golden retriever. The family has had him since he was just eight weeks old, and Amanda says he has brought even more energy into their already active home.
Each family member contributes something unique to the dynamic of the household. Greg brings structure, Amanda brings planning, Sam brings eagerness, Margaret brings a nurturing spirit, and George brings curiosity. Together, those qualities create a home environment that is loving, supportive, and full of life.
Education, Careers, and a Love Story
Education has always been important to both Greg and Amanda. Greg attended Stetson University for his undergraduate degree before earning his MBA in finance from Babson College. Amanda attended the University of Kentucky for her undergraduate studies and later completed a master’s program in Elementary Education and Teacher Leadership at Georgetown College.
The couple first met through Match and eventually built the life they now share together in Carmel. Greg works as a financial wholesaler for Eaton Vance, while Amanda is a former teacher currently focused on raising their children as a stay-at-home mom. She hopes to return to teaching once George begins kindergarten.
Creating Traditions and Lasting Memories
As a family, the Chalas family loves finding simple ways to celebrate together. Around the holidays, they enjoy baking special treats and traveling during winter break. For them, creating memories together is what matters most.
That same sense of togetherness extends into the neighborhood. Whether it is a Village celebration, a summer concert, or an event hosted by the MOMs group, the Chalas family enjoys participating in activities that bring the community together.
They also have several favorite local spots they enjoy visiting regularly, including Frogmore Green, the Downtown Park, Zing, Fundaes, and Greeks.
Bringing Neighbors Together
Community involvement is something the Chalas family truly values. They enjoy organizing neighborhood kickball games, Derby races for nearby friends, and gatherings on the green space along Frogmore Street. Amanda also serves on the Village Communications Committee, helping support communication and engagement throughout the neighborhood.
When asked about their favorite family memories in the neighborhood, the answer comes easily. Some of their favorite moments have been spent at Frogmore Green watching neighbors and children gather together to play. Those experiences, they say, perfectly capture what makes the Village of WestClay feel so special.
For the Chalas family, home is about far more than where they live. It is about building relationships, creating traditions, and being part of a community that feels connected. Their warmth, involvement, and enthusiasm for neighborhood life reflect the welcoming spirit that makes the Village of WestClay such a special place to call home.
