Halloween at the Jamar House

Halloween is one of the Jamar's favorite holidays, alongside Christmas and Oklahoma State Homecoming.

In 2015, the Jamar family began their Halloween yard decor collection with a wooden cemetery fence and a few gravestones to entertain their young sons. Fast forward to today, they are known in the neighborhood for their impressive Halloween decorations despite only moving to Twin Rivers in April of 2021. Each year, they aim to elevate their display by introducing new features like extra lighting, bigger gravestones, or additional skeletons. Their objective is to outdo their previous setup, but they never imagined it would grow into what it is now.

The most time-consuming task, they mention, is bringing everything down from the attic. Once all items are retrieved, the setup process is swift, usually taking just a day or two to complete. They prefer to have everything ready two weeks ahead of Halloween to avoid weather-related damage to the decorations. Moreover, they aim to keep the display enjoyable for all, particularly ensuring it is not overly frightening for young children.

The Jamar family believes that families from various neighborhoods visit Twin Rivers for trick-or-treating, with some returning specifically to their house. When asked about the amount of candy distributed annually, Sarah humorously remarked, "I honestly have no idea…It’s a lot though!" As for their favorite decorations, the boys favor the skeleton pirate ship, while Sarah adores the skeleton bride.
