Returning Athletes Stronger Than Before

For nearly 20 years, Sports Chiropractic Institute has helped Smyrna residents stay active, resilient, and moving forward, on the field and in everyday life.

For nearly two decades, Sports Chiropractic Institute (SCI) has been helping Smyrna’s active community move better, recover stronger, and return to the activities they love, often better than before.

Meet the Expert Behind the Practice

Dr. Ashli Linkhorn brings an impressive blend of education, personal athletic achievement, and hands-on experience to SCI. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Genetics from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, followed by a Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life University.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Linkhorn is no stranger to endurance and performance. She has completed an Ironman, five Half-Ironman races, three 50K runs, and numerous other competitive events. She is also a Level 2 Russian Kettlebell Instructor and has served on the Medical Team for the Women’s College Softball World Series for a decade. Currently, she serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Life University since 2007 and a Clinical Advisor and Instructor for the Graston Technique since 2013.

Dr. Linkhorn resides on the Smyrna/Mableton border with her wife and their 13-year-old daughter, who attends St. Benedict’s and plays for TopHat Soccer.

The Story Behind Sports Chiropractic Institute

In February 2006, Dr. Linkhorn purchased Southerland Chiropractic Center, a family chiropractic practice that had served the Smyrna area for more than 20 years. Shortly after, the practice evolved into Sports Chiropractic Institute (SCI), reflecting a renewed focus on helping active individuals, athletes and everyday movers alike, achieve goals both big and small.

Services Designed for Real Results

SCI offers far more than traditional chiropractic care. The team focuses on the neuromuscular system that supports the spine, while encouraging patients to actively participate in their recovery through mobility and stability drills at work and home. They offer personalized lifting plans, and comprehensive soft-tissue treatment. All SCI providers are trained in the Graston Technique, which is especially effective for tendon and ligament issues, and massage therapy is also available as part of a well-rounded treatment plan.

What Sets SCI Apart

At Sports Chiropractic Institute, the goal isn’t quick fixes or lifelong adjustment plans. Their mission is clear: return clients stronger, faster, and more biomechanically sound than before their injury. SCI focuses not just on rehabilitation, but on long-term performance and resilience.

Community-Focused and Locally Involved

SCI is proud to stay connected to the local community through involvement with Business Network International (BNI), the Smyrna Small Business Association, and support of various Campbell High School booster programs.

Looking Ahead

February 2026 will mark 20 years of Sports Chiropractic Institute serving the Smyrna community, a milestone Dr. Linkhorn and her team are excited to celebrate.

Expert Advice for Vinings Estates Residents

Dr. Linkhorn often jokes that her best advice on how to stay out of her office is:
“Foam roll where you’re tight, keep your core and glutes strong, prioritize quality sleep, and find a movement routine you can stick with—whether that’s running, cycling, yoga, lifting, Jiu Jitsu, pickleball, basketball, or swimming. We were made to move. Keep moving, and vary your movement.”

Whether you’re recovering from an injury or looking to improve performance, Sports Chiropractic Institute is here to help you get back to doing what you love, even stronger than before.
