Meet Your Neighbors, The Bhavnani Family

Rajan and Janice met at a church event in Washington D.C., through a mutual friend.  Rajan was finishing up graduate school in Baltimore, while Janice was working in Fishers, Indiana.  After graduation, Rajan moved to Indiana after accepting a sales position in Indianapolis.  They got engaged in 2003 and were married in October 2004.  Today, they have three children:  Caleb (17), Jacob (15), and Joel (12).

The Bhavnanis love traveling to see different parts of the country and the world.  Rajan was born and raised in Ghana, so they make trips back there every couple of years.  Closer to home, they enjoy biking, spending evenings around the fire, and walking around the lake together.

This past April, they took their first cruise as a family—and it’s now their new favorite way to vacation.  Looking ahead, they’re heading to Norris Lake in Tennessee next summer with Janice’s siblings and their families, a tradition they really look forward to.

Rajan has spent his career in Business-to-Business (B2B) sales, building relationships and helping businesses succeed.  Janice is a PMP-certified Project Manager with years of experience in IT project management.  Together, they decided to bring their professional backgrounds—and their passion for wellness—into something they could build as a family.  This decision led the Bhavnanis to bring the Degree Wellness studio to Carmel—the first in Indiana.

Degree Wellness is a boutique recovery and wellness studio that offers:
  • Cryotherapy to reduce inflammation and pain.
  • Cold plunge & infrared sauna for recovery and stress relief.
  • Red light therapy for joint, skin, and cellular health.
  • IV drips & IM injectables to support hydration, energy, and immunity.
  • Compression therapy for legs and hips to promote circulation and recovery.
Why these therapies matter:
  • IV & IM therapies:  Vitamin B12 injections can boost energy, improve mood, and support healthy nerve function.  B-Complex shots aid in metabolism, reduce stress, and help maintain healthy skin, hair, and nails.  IV hydration replenishes electrolytes, strengthens immunity, supports athletic recovery, and even improves sleep quality.
  • Compression therapy:  Using air compression sleeves for the legs and hips, this therapy improves blood circulation, reduces swelling, and speeds muscle recovery.  It’s especially beneficial for athletes after intense workouts, people who spend long hours sitting or standing, and those who experience poor circulation or swelling in the lower body.  Many clients also find it helps relieve stiffness and fatigue in the hips and legs, leaving them feeling lighter and more energized.

Most wellness studios focus on just one service.  Degree Wellness brings them all together under one roof, in a boutique, spa-like setting. Each room has its own small refrigerator stocked with curated custom glass bottles, adding to the boutique experience.

They’ve designed tiered memberships that are now available (actually end of September they will provide QR code), making it easy for people to commit to their wellness journey.  They begin at two sessions per month to eight sessions per month. They also offer unlimited sessions, as well as family memberships which is perfect for families with teenage athletes or children that are into health and wellness.  They will also offer members discounted pricing on IV injectables since those services aren’t part of the membership.

When asked what they are looking forward to about bringing Degree Wellness to Carmel, Rajan and Janice responded, We’re excited to see how it impacts people’s lives.  Whether it’s a student athlete bouncing back faster, an older adult finding relief from chronic pain, or a busy parent carving out time to recharge—we know these services change lives because we’ve experienced it ourselves.  Carmel also feels like home—it’s where Janice grew up, and we’re excited to give back to a community that has given us so much.”

The Degree Wellness studio is expected to open in December and will be located at 1685 E. 116th Street, Carmel 46032.  For more information, contact Janice at 317-797-1542.

Faith and service have always been central to the Bhavnani family.  For many years, they’ve served in various ministries at their church—from working with young children to leading preteens and overseeing the youth group.

Rajan has also served on the church board and remains very active with his high school alumni association in Ghana.  He helped establish the North American chapter, which focuses on philanthropic work—supporting his alma mater while also providing much-needed resources to underfunded schools in Ghana.  Through both local service and international outreach, they’ve seen how giving back can strengthen communities near and far.

Rajan found their Waterstone home during their search, and they instantly fell in love with both the home and the neighborhood.  For Janice, it was a win in more ways than one:  Rajan had long wanted a backyard pool, but having grown up with one, Janice knew the upkeep it required.  The Waterstone pools solved that issue perfectly—especially since their old neighborhood didn’t have a pool.

Since moving in, they’ve truly fallen in love with the community.  Their neighbors have been a blessing, and their kids have enjoyed being on the swim team and taking full advantage of the neighborhood’s amenities.  What began as a search for the right house has become so much more—they feel grateful to be part of such a special neighborhood.
