Holding the Line: Hudson Dorsey Reflects on Olentangy Liberty’s Season
Hudson Dorsey (#2) and teammate regroup during a tough matchup under the Friday night lights.
At 17 years old, Hudson Dorsey, a standout middle linebacker for Olentangy Liberty High School, carried himself with the confidence and determination of a true team leader. When we spoke with Hudson mid-season, the Patriots were finding their rhythm after a rocky start, and his perspective on the year reflected both growth and resilience.
Hudson described the early weeks of the season as challenging. “We started off slow,” he explained, noting that it took a few games for the team to hit its stride. By week five, however, Liberty had notched two wins and was building the momentum it needed to keep pressing forward.
One of the highlights Hudson recalled was the week four matchup against Berlin. It was a nail-biter from start to finish, but Liberty pulled through, securing a hard-fought victory that quickly became a turning point. “Beating Berlin in week four after a close matchup for the whole game was definitely the most memorable moment so far,” he said.
Hudson also spoke candidly about the team’s transformation since the opening whistle of the season. “Our first game our team was divided and pointing fingers,” he admitted. “But we had a huge improvement on our teamwork together as a whole team and our integrity.” That shift in mindset, according to Hudson, made all the difference as the players and coaches committed to unity and discipline.
When asked about goals, Hudson emphasized fundamentals above all else. “Our team really focused on the fundamentals in the foundation of what football really is,” he explained. “We believed if you could get the fundamentals down, then you would be a great all-around football team.”
For the second half of the season, Hudson assured the Liberty community that they could expect grit, determination, and relentless effort on the field. “The community could look forward to a team that was going to come out every Friday night and fight as hard as they could from the first snap to the last snap of the game,” he said.
Through Hudson’s eyes, the 2025 Liberty football season was about more than just wins and losses—it was about growth, perseverance, and building a foundation for the future. His leadership and perspective reflected the values of both the program and the community that rallied behind them.
