Ginger and Robert Farris: Life, Family, and Faith in Wellsgate
For the past ten years, Ginger and Robert Farris have called Wellsgate home.
Originally from Clarksdale, Mississippi, the couple built their dream house after living in two other Oxford neighborhoods. Drawn in by Wellsgate’s peaceful surroundings and active community, they found the perfect balance. “We love that our neighborhood is quiet but full of life,” Ginger said. “It’s wonderful to see children riding bikes and golf carts, fishing in the lakes, and neighbors out walking or running.” From bald eagles soaring overhead to ducks gliding across the water, they love the abundance of wildlife that adds to the neighborhood’s charm.
The couple’s story began decades ago in high school, when they first met and later reconnected as students at Ole Miss. Their shared faith and love for others shaped a life devoted to ministry, taking them across the South—from Houston, Texas, to Augusta, Georgia, Jackson, Memphis, and DeSoto County—before settling in Oxford seventeen years ago. Now celebrating 41 years of marriage, they’ve built not only a family but also a life of service and mentorship.
Ginger and Robert are active members of Christ Presbyterian Church and dedicate their time to Operation Life Vision, a local ministry serving children in need of encouragement and guidance. “We’ve always believed in the importance of investing in people,” Ginger explained. “Whether through faith, friendship, or health, we want to help others live with purpose.”
Their current calling as health and wellness coaches allows them to do just that. Working from home, they guide clients toward better nutrition, balance, and overall well-being. Their passion for health extends to their own daily routines—both enjoy walking, running, and playing pickleball, as well as cheering on Ole Miss athletics.
Ginger and Robert have three grown children—Sheley, Mary McCadden, and Robert III — spread between Memphis and Dallas, but Ginger and Robert make every effort to stay close. Their seven grandchildren—twins Morgan and Mackenzie (16), Virginia Kate (15), Gracie (14), Zachery (11), Reese (10), and twins Grey and Monroe (5)—bring fun and energy to their lives. They currently share their yard with a group of deer who eat their favorite flowers, and their home with a small colony of feral cats, who have become a part of their daily rhythm.
One recent family gathering will be remembered for more than just laughter and cake. Over Labor Day weekend, the entire family came together in Oxford to celebrate the twins’ Sweet 16. “It was the first time we’d all been under one roof in years,” Ginger recalled. Little did we know that along with all the fun there lurked two uninvited guests - a stomach virus and our old friend covid. All of our family except the two carriers of the stomach bug spent the next two days with that, and then some of us spent the next three days after the stomach bug with Covid! So much for family gatherings!”
When they’re not spending time with the kids or working, Ginger and Robert enjoy simple pleasures—cooking on their Big Green Egg, dining at Jim’s Grille in Collierville or one of Oxford’s many great restaurants on the Square, and vacationing along 30A.
Ginger and Robert are quick to express gratitude for the friendships and community they’ve found in Wellsgate. “We have a beautiful neighborhood with friendly neighbors.” With a lifetime built on faith, family, and wellness, Ginger and Robert Farris embody what it means to live fully—one meaningful day at a time.
